Helicopter Flight 12/13 Minute (Zimbabwe)

It was amazing, the pilot flew us over and over the falls about 5 times from every angle and our pics were like they were out of a magazine even the ones with just our cell phones. It was very different to actually going to to the falls. Coming off the helicopter my heart was racing but with pure excitement as this experience was an absolute thrill.

TripAdvisor and Wild Horizon have Very poor communication. I booked 8am flights and WH had us at 10:45! Plus a group that showed up with a guide LAST MINUTE got to go before us. All this interfered with our other activities. The flight was great.

The helicopter ride over the falls is an amazing way to see the falls, and 12-13 minutes is more than enough time to take it all in. The staff is friendly and professional; the flight organization is a well-oiled machine!

For less than €140 per person all-inclusive, I find that it is a good value for money. They are very professional. There is one thing I do not understand; I went directly through Viator, and I am told that it is Wild Horizon that is the provider. However, I have never had contact with them, even when I asked them to call me back or to contact me through Viator. Upon arriving at the heliport site, it is Zambezi Helicopters that operates the flights. In short, go directly to them to book; there will be no intermediary.

Firstly the confirmation mail took forever and we re-booked, eager to get a space as it was our day of departure. The morning of the activity both mails had been received and the tickets were visible on Viator with Wild Horizons being the service provider. We waited in the lobby at the given time as indicated on the tickets for pick-up, but no one showed up to collect us. The receptionist at Shearwater as well as the gentleman who work for the Shearwater adventure centre, called Wild Horizons a number of times on our behalf, but they claimed they did not received our booking. We were never collected from our hotel for the activity, yet the payment of $450 was accepted and processed. These are thieves taking your money. Whether Viator or Wild Horizons I cannot say, but they do not come recommended.

Helicopter ride experience itself was 10/10 and absolutely worth doing. The views were incredible and it’s definitely a must-do while in Zimbabwe. Unfortunately, the communication from this company was almost nonexistent. They never replied through Viator (except later to ask for a good review), and the phone number provided wasn’t working. I had to search online for different numbers until someone finally answered, only to tell me they had already changed our tour time. The flight was amazing, but the customer service was disappointing and stressful. There are many companies offering the same experience, so I’d recommend choosing one that actually respects your time and communicates properly.

Absolutely amazing - a different perspective on the Falls and the surrounding geology. The staff are friendly, professional, efficient and have "Top Gun" levels of cool. The briefing was comprehensive and the pilot was amazing ensuring we felt confident and safe throughout. The actual flight was mind blowing, when we go back we will definitely do this again and book the longer flight - definitely worth the money. The choppers are fairly large so there were five of us on the flight but the trip is designed so that everyone gets excellent views of the falls.

In addition to the helicopter flight, also made a dinner cruise, a Chobe full day trip, Bomadinner, Canopytour, and much more besides our stay at the Old Drift Lodge and the Elephant Camp through the agency. Everything was super planned and worked absolutely smoothly. Wild Horizons is by far the best agency for the stay and activities, thank you Wilma for our dream holiday.
