Montserrat er et kloster på toppen af en bjergtop beliggende på toppen af et usædvanligt klippebjerg. Det er det højeste punkt i det catalanske lavland. Montserrat kloster er vært for "la Moreneta", også kaldet Black Madonna. Legenden siger, at benediktinermunkene fandt statuen, og de kunne ikke flytte statuen for at bygge deres kloster, så de besluttede at bygge den omkring statuen. Montserrat blev udpeget som en nationalpark i 1987. I dag er det et pilgrimssted for mennesker over hele verden. Klosterets oprindelse er usikker, men det menes, at Jomfruen af Monsterrat (la Moreneta) blev fundet omkring 880. Ifølge legenderne bygger munkene klostret omkring statuen. Klosteret fungerer stadig den dag i dag med over 70 munke. Basilikaen Montserrat begyndte sin konstruktion i det 16. århundrede og huser nu et kunstmuseum. Det er også stedet, hvor la Escolania, et af de ældste drengekor i Europa, optræder under religiøse ceremonier.

Excellent service, very friendly MK and Aaron and helped with absolutely everything. Very happy!!
Aaron was fantastic! He made the whole trip so easy and hands off. When my four year-old got tired on the long walk, he offered to carry her on his shoulders for a bit. He even stopped in the gift shop to read her a story while I purchased my items. He was so kind and knowledgeable. This was a great tour for adults and for kids! We learned a lot and saw everything in a great amount of time. I’m so glad we booked and I would definitely book him again!

Vincenzo was an excellent guide. His knowledge of Catalonia and Monserrat is extensive. The tour included a driver and Vincenzo both of which were excellent. My son had a broken foot with limited mobility and both Vincenzo and the driver were very helpful. Montserrat is a very special place. Do not miss it if you are in Barcelona. I highly recommend this tour and highly recommend Vincenzo.

This was a wonderful tour with a comfortable bus and 3 very knowledgeable guides. Our main guide was Francesco who was just as charming as could be. Only downside was the cloudiness, but it was still worth the trip.

We had a private tour for a half day - it was great to have a pick up at the apartment. The driver and tour guide were great. We were able to park right near the restaurant and Monestary.
