Melissani-grotten i Kefalonia ligger lige uden for Sami. Det er et af de mest dramatiske steder for turister at besøge i Grækenland. Der er en smuk sø inde i hulen, der har smukke træer og skove omkring sig. Selve hulen er B-formet. Taget på en af hallerne faldt ind for århundreder siden og lod smukt sollys filtrere ind. Søens dybde er 20 til 30 meter. Efter en kort overførselstid vil du have chancen for at tage en bådtur på søen. Dette er et geografisk fænomen. Der er ca. 7 robåde, der tager omkring 10 personer i hver. Guiderne forklarer, hvordan søen blev dannet.
Gå ikke glip af chancen for at besøge de must see attraktioner i Kefalonia. Drogarati-hulen i Kefalonia blev opdaget for 300 år siden og åbnet for offentligheden i 1963. Den blev opdaget, da et kraftigt jordskælv forårsagede et kollaps, der afslørede hulens indgang. Drogarati er en imponerende hule med bemærkelsesværdige formationer af drypsten og stalagmitter. Speleologer siger, at denne hule er omkring 150 millioner år gammel og udgør et sjældent geologisk fænomen. Bemærk venligst, at der er ca. 150 trin ned i hulen. Håndlister er monteret. Men noget af hulegulvet er lidt ujævnt og kan til tider være glat.
Myrtos Beach er en af de mest populære attraktioner i Kefalonia. Det ligger 29 km nord for Argostoli, i et charmerende område omgivet af smukke bakker. Myrtos strand har fået verdensomspændende ry. Det er blevet kåret som bedste strand i Grækenland mange gange!
Koutavos-lagunen er et fremragende naturreservat for dyreliv, herunder Caretta Caretta-skildpadden og andet fugleliv. Det er beliggende nær hovedet af Argostoli Bay. Byens største park er en skyggefuld skov af eukalyptus- og fyrretræer, der kan nås ved at gå eller cykle langs den brede sti, der runder lagunen fra havnefronten. Indtil Drepano-broen blev bygget i 1813 for at lette adgangen til Argostoli fra bosættelserne på tværs af bugten, var lagunen en næsten ufremkommelig mose fyldt med myg og malaria. En lille holm i lagunens centrum er forbudt for besøgende, fordi den tjener som rede- og fodringsområde for vandfugle. Koutavos-lagunen ligger nær mundingen af Argostoli-bugten.

Our tour in Cephalonia with Giota was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. She had incredible energy, was warm and welcoming, and met us right in front of the terminal as soon as we got off the cruise, which made everything feel so easy and well organized. Without her, our experience in Cephalonia and the whole tour would not have been nearly as enjoyable. Her enthusiasm and local knowledge truly made the day special. We especially loved Myrtos Beach — what an absolutely beautiful and breathtaking place. The views were unforgettable. Melissani Cave is also an absolute must-do for anyone visiting Cephalonia. It was one of the highlights of our trip. A huge thank you to Giota, who put soul into her job for making our visit so memorable. Highly recommended!

Great day trip to Half Day Melissani Lake and Drogarati Cave Tour with Myrtos Swim with Giota, she's special, funny, well iinformed, generous (thanks for the wine and snaks and joy while car battery was off). Kefalonia is wonderful especially when travelling with lovely people. Definitely recomend this trip with Giota and any other with Thalassa Agency, they are so kind, helpful and welcoming people. Transportation was provided in a comfortable van which was air conditioned. The excursion included a lot of driving and a lot of waiting in line. The one down side was that we were expecting our tour guide to give us somewhat of a tour in between sights. He didn’t speak any English and so there wasn’t any kind of “tour”.
This is just a car ride to the places, dropoff and pickup when finished - the driver waits. If you are more than a single person, it's much better to hire a private car. It's not a guided tour (no history, background, description). Our driver was a sweetheart but didn't speak English. Made the most of it but would
We are sorry if we did not meet your expectations. The Tour we have MYrtos and caves swimming is a unique tour because we combined swimming at one of the difficult beaches to approach for swimming in kefalonia .. so our priority is for you to see all the site scenes and to swim at the beautiful beach of Myrtos.. now sometimes due to cruise ships and many people arriving sometimes the drivers will not have time to explain everything our priority is for you to see the island gems and swim and to return back safely and I think that’s what’s happened. Thanos was an amazing tour guide who was very mindful and knowledgeable about all of the locations visited. He also made sure to avoid the long line at Melissani which was extremely helpful. All of the staff was very accommodating and flexible which I greatly appreciate.

Arriving at the Argostoli port on Aug 6 at 10:20am for a 10:30am scheduled excursion, we were told to go to the Thalassa office and were told to wait only to depart over 40 mins late! Our tour guide was only able to speak broken english. We started with Drogarati Cave which was impressive. We then drove to Melissani Lake only to find a 2+ hour waiting line. Given our back-to-cruise-port time and the tour length, the driver suggested we skip it and go straight to Myrtos. We asked about compensation for missing 1/3 of our tour and because of his broken english, our driver called and had me speak with the Thalassa office where they offered "there is nothing we can do about it...just go to the beach". Even with skipping the lake, we only had 45 mins for the swim on a VERY rocky (but beautiful) beach...so it was doubtful we could have done all stops even if there had been no waiting line at the lake due to our late departure. We felt the tour company could have offered an english speaking guide, could have departed on time, could have done better planning regarding realistic time mgmt of sites visited, could have divulged that Myrtos beach was rocky and really required surf shoes to swim, and they could have compensated us for missing over 1/3 of our excursion due to lines and a late departure! While the sites we were able to see were impressive, I wouldn't recommend working with this company to visit them!!!!!!!
The tour exceeded our expectations, partly down to our fantastic tour guide Thanos who provided useful information, humour and even helped us to book a gluten free meal in a restaurant for the following day. He went above and beyond. Each site was busy and you only needed about 15-20 min in the caves and lagoon. The beach was 1hr which was plenty in the heat. We also had a private mini van to ourselves as a family of 8 including grandparents. The lagoon and caves are a must but make sure you don’t arrive too early or too late.

We did the first thing we did was the plain cave. LOTS of steps there too. We didn't do the cave of the nymphs because of the 1.5 hour wait. We did get an hour at the beach which was beautiful. We drove about half the time and left late. We then had to ask for the water. I'd do just the beach.
This was one of the worst excursions I have been on during a cruise, and I have been on many. We were 45 minutes late leaving because we were waiting on 2 people, we were only given 20 minutes to walk up and down the steps to the cavern, we didn't even get to go to the cave because the wait was over 2 hours, we only got a little over 45 minutes to see/swim at the beach, and we never saw or stopped at the village we were supposed to do so shopping for souvenirs was out as well. While nice, our driver spoke so English so it was a silent ride. We are used to someone telling us about the area or things we pass so that we can learn about things, but that didn't happen. Overall I would be hard pressed to recommend this tour to anyone. 😒
