I denne tur vil vi klatre op til toppen af favelaen sammen med beboere, hvor turisten vil mærke favelaens atmosfære og tage en rundtur i gyderne og stræderne, hvor favelaens historie fortælles. Lige ved indgangen til favelaen er stedet, hvor nogle scener fra filmen Fast and Furious 5 blev optaget. Dele af Tropa de Elite 2 blev også filmet i samfundet, for ikke at nævne listen over kunstnere, der har besøgt stedet, såsom popstjernerne Michael Jackson og Madonna, samt personligheder som Alicia Keys, Vin Diesel, Hugh Jackman, Jason Statham mellem andre. Udsigten fra toppen af favelaen er utrolig! Sugarloaf Mountain, Urca, Corcovado, Ipanema, Copacabana og flere, alle set på én gang.

A great way to see how 50% of Rio live and a far cry from the beaches of Copacabana. Despite the minimal living space and rudimentary facilities there is a n order to how things work in the Favelas. Our guide Leonardo was great and for those concerned with the security aspect we felt safe and people were unerringly polite. We’ll worth doing. Santa Marta is one of the smaller favelas so you can cover it in a couple of hours and there is a funicular that transports you to the Chapel at the top…then it’s all downhill.

The view from the favelas was what I liked the most. I recommend other visitors to visit only one favela as we did on this tour.
