En rejse gennem Veronas smag og italiensk køkken med din lokale guide, enten på engelsk eller italiensk. Vi starter i en delikatessebutik for at prøve et udvalg af speget skinke og ost ledsaget af grøntsagspatés. Da oliven vokser meget i området, vil vi stoppe ved den lokale oliemøllebutik for at prøve en bruschetta og lære alt om det. Næste stop vil vi prøve 3 ikoniske italienske chokolader og finde ud af mere om, hvordan de er lavet. Verona er berømt for sine røde Valpolicella-vine. Vi holder en pause i smagslokalet i Saibante, en vingård, der producerer mindre end 15.000 flasker om året. Vi vil ikke kun smage, men afsløre hemmelighederne bag dets fremstilling. Mens vi går gennem UNESCO Veronas historiske centrum, vil guiderne dele historier om byens historie, traditioner og kultur. Vores første stop vil være i Castelvecchio-området, ved en lokal delikatesseforretning for at prøve et udvalg af saltede skinker, oste og vegetabilske patéer fra Sicilien.
Efter en kort gåtur gennem Veronas maleriske gader stopper vi ved oliemøllen Redoro-butikken. Gardasøen holder klimaet perfekt til at dyrke oliven, så nyd en bruschetta med dette flydende guld og 2 patès.
Verona er berømt for sine Valpolicella-vine, hvor vingården Corte Saibante ligger. De producerer mindre end 10.000 flasker om året og holder en høj kvalitet. Vi stopper ved deres smagslokale nær Arenaen, hvor en sommelier vil forklare og servere 2 smagninger af Valpolicella
Vi kommer forbi Piazza Erbe for at stoppe ved familiebutikken, der producerer og sælger Pandoro, Veronas mest berømte kage. Kom sulten og klar til at udforske smagen af Verona!
Turen stopper ikke til Julies hus, men vi passerer i nærheden. Huset blev brugt som hotel i Dickens tid.

Manuela was a wonderful guide who shared insights about Verona and its food culture. We visited small shops with food/drink/sweets specific to Verona and the region. We especially appreciated that even though the tour did not fill up ( only the two of us + Manuela), he did not cancel for whatever reason, as so often happens. We highly recommend the tour. We are not used to good wine and after three glasses we were high... anyway in the end it went well and we all went home happy

Our guide, Leonardo was fantastic! It was only my wife and me on the tour but that didn’t throw him. Leonardo was very knowledgable about Verona and the food and wine from the area. While there were not as many tastings as other tours we’ve taken, we learned a lot about the items and how they fit into Verona’s food history. The walk around town was also very informative. We really felt coming away from the tour that we certainly got our money’s worth and spent a few very pleasant hours learning about Verona.

This was not as good as other food walks I've taken in other cities, but it was fun. Our first stop, an olive oil tasting on bruschetta, was not informative at all, but the oils were interesting and different. The candy stop was an intense rapid overload of sugar with hardly any information. Our cake stop wasn't a stop, it was a pick-up and eat in the street, again, with no information. Our final stop we actually learned a bit about the two wines, but nothing more about the meats and cheeses than their straightforward descriptions. As we walked through Verona our guide pointed out a few historical points of interest. While we had a very good time with our guide and the other guests, the food choices didn't thrill us.

Unfortunately, the guide that was there was substituting our main guide who had an accident, so that is why the informative part was lacking. But now our main guide is back! Disappointed by an underwhelming tour. I've been on a few food tours in Italy, they are usually filled with interesting stories and inspiring food. Our guy was lovely but spoke quickly and didn't make it a memorable experience, no fun stories to make Verona or the food come alive. We basically had some toast with olive oil, a few sweets, a cake, and some wine and unremarkable cheese and salami. I was underwhelmed.

Carlo was a wonderful guide and so knowledgeable about the history and culture of Verona and it's good. We learnt so much and enjoyed being introduced to stores and foods we otherwise would not have tried without his guidance. Unfortunately they were not able to cater well for my friend who has coeliac when it came to food, which was absolutely not the fault of the host who tried his best to adjust the experience. Would recommend for anyone interested in Verona culture, food, wine and history but would caution for those who are gluten intolerant or allergic/coeliac.
