This tour was awesome. Got picked up right on time and it was a nice drive out to the ruins. Victor was a amazing guide, he is packed full of information about Mexico and the Mayan culture. We went on a Staurday in May and were the only ones there, so got a nice private experience.
I was really amazed by the knowledge of the Mayan culture by Victor Rosales of Bacalar Ecotours. Victor's ability to transfer his passion for this culture really comes through. He also has so many historical photos and information to share that you leave with a new respect for the Mayan culture. And as a side note, his ability to spot and explain about the local animals is amazing as well. You won't go wrong with Bacalar Ecotours!!
Victor our guide, is the guy, full of energy, humour, and knowledge-don’t miss out. Learning about the history and seeing the incredible Mayan temples in a peaceful place where you see monkeys and birds (of course Victor can share with you the species) is a wonderful experience! Thank you Victor

Great tour of newly open Mayan city. Our guide, Victor, was very friendly and knowledgeable. We saw ruins, learned a lot, saw some exotic wildlife, and made it back to Bacalar by noon to enjoy the lagoon. Would definitely recommend.

Thanks for your review we always appreciate that people take time to write their experiences with us, how ever you did not mention why the tour was cancelled. The experience was cancelled as I mentioned when i called you because I have a car problem and I was not sure about driving customers before a mechanic checked so I did and I had a problem with the suspension so I decided to cancel the experience. I prefer to lose business to have a car accident I am so sorry but I took safety seriously. All the best from paradise.
This was our third tour of Maya ruins during our Yucatan & Quintana Roo trip and by far the best! We already learned more on the drive to and from the ruins about Mexico, its wildlife, politics, and nature conservation than on our entire stay otherwise. Victor picked us up from our hotel at 6:30 AM and we drove an hour to Dzibanché, which is a ruin that’s currently rebuilt and will likely soon face a huge increase in visitor numbers. We had the whole area to ourselves, we climbed the ruins and admired the view while Victor told us about the history and Mayan culture. The whole time, he kept one eye on wildlife around us - we saw a monkey and a huge amount of different birds (including Toucans!). Victor had an amazing sense for where the birds are and was able to attract many of them so we could admire them through binoculars or take pictures. We can wholeheartedly recommend the experience to everyone - birder or no!

We had such an amazing time exploring Mayan cities with Victor. He is a very knowledgeable guide and he cares so much about the wild life and supporting local communities. Victor also showed us some tropical birds on our tour. See the photo of a beautiful toucan that he took 😍. Highly recommend choosing Victor and Bacalar Ecotours as your guide!! This is a one in a lifetime experience! The energy of this place is so special and we could not ask for a better guide. Victor is more than knowledgeable, he is passionate and it shows. The vast history of the Mayan jungle will live on for generations to come because of passionate people that care. I 10/10 recommend Victor. As others have noted there are people "blocking" the entrance to the ruins, by all means these are FRIENDLY people who want to be taken care of for passing on their land! Please respect the locals as this is more than a tour destination for them, this is their home, their land, their history, their culture and their legacy.
Morning we were picked up by Victor at the hotel. Victor took us to a beautiful setting that he knew all about. Knew to tell all about the place and the animals that live there. Taking many pictures with Victor of the animals and the temples. Highly recommended and definitely bring a camera!
