Vores første stop vil være Seminario Park, for at beundre dens smukke haver og dens lagune. Med katedralen i Guayaquil som baggrund vil vi også opdage, hvorfor denne park er kendt som "Iguanas Park", når vi tæt på ser de eksotiske leguaner i Guayaquil, som er længere end en meter lange. Derefter krydser vi den populære Malecon 2000 langs Guayas-floden, hvor vi vil se en række forskellige museer, haver, dokker og udsigtspunkter. Vores næste stop vil være la Rotonda, for at se monumentet over Sydamerikas befriere og høre om det berømte "Interview of Guayaquil" mellem den venezuelanske Simón Bolívar og argentineren José de San Martín. Derefter tager vi til den ældste del af byen for at udforske det koloniale kvarter Las Peñas. Deres farverige huse bygget i træ repræsenterer ægte kunstværker. We wanted to learn about Guayaquil and do some sightseeing before our trip to the Galapagos and did the city tour. It was informative, well-paced, and brought a good balance of history, culture, food, and sights. Allison was a great guide. Even two teen boys enjoyed it.

We did the day tour of Guayaquil in order to get to know the city before we took off to the Galapagos the next day. There were four of us… My wife and I and two teenage boys. The tour was about 3 1/2 hours long and it included history, culture, a little sightseeing, and some food tasting. Allison was an excellent tour guide as a city native. Knowledgeable, eligible, great communicator before, and during the tour, and showed us a lot of the city. I recommend this tour highly.

Today was a wonderful leisurely, walk around Guayaquil. Our tour guide Antonio was extremely knowledgeable about his country and was sure to provide us with the most in-depth explanation of the culture and answered all of our questions. We walked 440 steps in the old city and enjoyed the most beautiful sunset atop the lighthouse where we got a chance to cool off with a wonderful breeze. It was a wonderful adventure for couples with a beautiful and romantic sunset at the end.

We enjoyed riding on the gondolas and visiting the artist neighborhood outside downtown Guayaquil. But a large portion of the tour consisted of being driven, seemingly aimlessly, through parts of the city with no real explanation why. From a distance we saw sights we would have liked to visit like the Monumento al Sagrado Corazon de Jesus, but were past by. Overall, this tour was mediocre at best.

Allyson was a very knowledgeable guide. She made the tour personal to what we wanted to see and do! I will be back to Guayaquil to do and see even more! This has been a great Birthday trip to Ecuador.
