Det kongelige paladskompleks blev etableret i 1782, og det består ikke kun af kongelige og tronsale, men også en række offentlige kontorer samt det berømte tempel for Emerald Buddha. Det dækker et areal på 218.000 kvadratmeter og er omgivet af fire vægge, 1900 meter i længden. Efter at kong Rama I kom til tronen i 1782, blev paladset bygget. Før dette havde det kongelige palads og administrationscenter været placeret i Thonburi, på vestbredden af Chao Phraya-floden. Af forskellige grunde anså den nye konge den tidligere hovedstad for uegnet og besluttede at etablere en ny hovedstad på den anden side af floden. Ved hans kongelige kommando blev der bygget et palads, der ikke kun skulle tjene som hans bopæl, men også som stedet for administrative kontorer. Det kongelige kompleks har siden da været kendt som det kongelige palads. De to tidligste bygninger, der blev opført i komplekset, var Dusit Haha Prasat Throne Hall og Phra Maha Monthian.

Awesome experience. If you are interested in the history of this site, I would definitely recommend the guide option. If I didn't have the guide, I never would of learned anything about this historical site.

I hired a guide who unfortunately didn't speak very good English, I hardly understood the explanation of the place, although she was kind. And the temple was beautiful.

Very prompt collection, unfortunately the collection time wasn't communicated, which meant we weren't waiting in the reception. Vehicle cleanliness and space very good.
