Glendalough og Wicklow Mountains eftermiddagstur fra Dublin

Beskrivelse

There is no guidance. You’re on your own. No informational material provided. A lot of walking and no water provided.
Great time. Had alot to see. Hiking was beautiful. Drive over and back was made very enjoyable by our bus driver.
Your was good- guide, Keith, was funny and entertaining. Loved the Irish music. Only complaint was that there wasn’t enough time to spend in Glendalough- we walk fast and barely made it to the waterfall and back getting an ice cream cone and using restrooms along the way. We had very little time at old monastery. Would have liked to enjoy the view of the second lake more- so beautiful! If traffic is a problem, begin the tour a half hour earlier so we could have more time. Also would be nice to get a bottle of water on bus.
This is an excellent half-day trip to take from Dublin to experience some natural beauty and get out of the city for a change of pace. Our driver, Gerry, was so knowledgeable and talked about Irish history on the way which was really interesting. Glendalough itself is breathtakingly beautiful. The hike to the two lakes was enough to get a little exercise but not overly strenuous. All the monastic ruins were amazing as well. And we were back by dinner time! I would recommend this trip to anyone visiting Dublin!!
Driver was knowledgeable and humorous. Drive was scenic and the monastery was worth a visit. The walk around the lakes were good you need about an hour for that then you’ll have a bit time for a drink.
The tour takes you to a beautiful part of the country. The guide/driver is interesting. Unlike some tours, it is not exhausting, though it is a lot of driving.
While I loved seeing the sights, I felt like our tour guide would've rather been anywhere else. He did not seem to enjoy his job, and came across as quite gruff. The sights were beautiful, though.
The departure was supposed to be at 1.30pm, but because people had to be picked up at several places, we really left after 2pm. It was a beautiful route through the Wicklow Mountains to Glendalough. The driver gave it and there information, but that was difficult for us to follow, he spoke more Irish than English and also vernacular. When we arrived at Glendalough, we left the bus requesting to be back at the same place two hours later. The driver who was also a guide left. Glendalough is really worth a visit. If you want to enter the Visitor Centre you have to pay entrance, this was not mentioned in the information. There was supposed to be a 20-minute photo stop at Wicklow Mountains park, but after everyone was back on the bus, it drove straight back to Dublin, and we were dropped off at a different location than where we boarded.
Due to the traffic, we were generally 2 hours on the bus to get there, then we really just sped through the mountains, which is what it is. Unfortunately, one could not understand anything from the driver without a functioning microphone. Upon arriving in Glendalough, the cemetery was nice to look at, but nothing more. And then back again, hooray.
Basically, we drove to a spot as quickly as possible; the driving style of the bus driver was really not okay, but that seems to be quite normal here in Ireland, where bus drivers only know full throttle and emergency braking, exaggeratedly speaking, the overtaking lane on the highway was used the whole time. Somehow, we expected to see more; instead, we were taken to a parking lot. We had exactly 2 hours, and that was it. Our expectations were somehow to have a round trip to possibly several spots with a guide who would show us the best places. What happened was that we were only pointed out highlights during the drive, but there was not even an attempt to slow down to possibly get a few more seconds of impression. Overall, not worth booking as soon as you are three. Instead, take a taxi and drive to a parking lot; it is more worthwhile.
