My wife found this hidden jewel of an artisan, hands on gelato making class in Lucca. We had so much fun and learned a LOT. The reward at the end was our own world class gelato. AND WE GOT TO SAMPLE AS MANY FLAVORS AS WE WANTED! Guilia is a trained culinary school chef and the sweetest person. We highly recommend her class and their artisan gelato. All natural ingredients. So creamy. Two shops in Lucca and the academy where the class is taught. They also have a shop in Dubai, which speaks to their quality. It's really unbelievable.

So fun and we learned a lot
This was such an unexpected joy. Guilia was our teacher and is culinary trained and we learned a lot and had so much fun. And hey at the end we got to taste the world’s best gelato! It’s so good they have two shops in Lucca and one in DUBAI! Highly recommend the class. Ya’ can’t drink wine all day 😂

Wonderful experience, so fun!
Amazing experience with Giulia. We made apricot and pistachio gelato from scratch and tried a ton of other flavors. It was delicious and so much fun! Highly recommend to any type of group, including with children. It was fantastic!

Gelato Making/Tasting Experience
Giulia was amazing! This family-run experience was one of the highlights of our trip. Our class was just me and my friend, so it felt very personal and hands-on. We made two gelato flavors ourselves, sampled those along with several others, and learned the difference between true artisanal gelato and mass-produced versions. The tasting alone was incredible — we got to try about 6–7 delicious flavors.
The class takes place in their actual gelato lab rather than one of the storefronts. It’s located outside the walls of Lucca in a more commercial area, so don’t worry if you wonder whether you’re in the right place — you are! Once inside, the people, the passion, and the experience are absolutely wonderful. Highly recommend!

Delicious and fun!
It was an amazing experience! Julia did a great job teaching us all about gelato and the difference between the real gelato they make and the fake stuff sold most places. Lots of hands-on experience for our 11 yr old. He loved it!! We also got to meet her dad (the owner) & hear his story and watch him work with the yeast for the Easter breads they make. An absolute joy! It is a long walk from city center & not all side walks. I recommend a cab if you have kids.

Julia was informative and engaging. We made our own gelato, and had a taste of every flavor of gelato in the shop! This was a great event.

Gelato with kiddos
I was very disappointed. There were 5 kids-ages 5-12 and their grandpa. The class was mostly observation, with little hands on. Very costly for the value of the product.

I’m really sorry if you not enjoy it. Maybe you haven’t read what the gelato class is: usually we talk about gelato, about its history then you taste every flavor and also produce one flavor of gelato. They helped Giulia to make gelato and they were very happy about it. I hope that one day you come back in our shop to have another experience with us.

Loved it!
Giulia was wonderful and our 6 year old loved getting to taste all the different kinds of gelato! Cremeria Opera had really wonderful fresh gelato. We can’t wait to get home and make some of our own!

The science of Italian gelato
Wow. This was a very good class. If you are looking for the actual making of the gelato- this isn’t the class for you. This is a class that is more scientific and academic then fun - although the tasting of the granitas and gelatos were outstanding. Perhaps they need to extend the time of the class. It could easily been a 90 minute class.
The host was the owner who is an amazing gelato maker. His extensive research in how to make artesian gelato and other delicious treats is blessing to Italian traditions. Bravo!
