I was taught how to cook by a very kind mother. I recommend shopping at the market! The curry I ate in Sri Lanka was the most delicious ♡

It was a wonderful day, from start to finish a super beautiful experience! Madhu and her brother (the tuk-tuk driver) were really great and warm. The ride, the local market tour and afterwards cooking in their house with the family was so nice! I would recommend it to everyone :)

We had a great experiences with Madhu’s cooking class. We arranged it directly with Madhu and communication was smooth. My daughter and I were the only persons in this class, that was really nice. Madhu and her father picked us up at the hotel in their tuktuk and we we t to the Dutch market Iin Galle. Madhu exploined all the vegetables and fruitsap and we could choose 5 to cook with. We also went to a slice shop to snelle and taste and to mild choose what fish (or meat) we wanted.. Then we went to her family home where we did get tea. Meanwhile Madhu, her mother and a neighbours prepared somethings in the traditional kitchen. Madhu explained everything clearly and we did cut vegetables, add spices and learned so much about Sri Lankan dishes. At the end we prepared 10 different curry’s, Rice, cocossambol and roti’s. It tasted delicious! Thank you so much for this great experience! We really recomment Madhu’s cooking class, you’ll have the best time and meal!

Madhu and her family made us feel welcome from the moment we met. We really enjoyed exploring the fruit and vegetable and spice market and she explained the different vegetables that we were not familiar with. We then could make our own choice as to what we wanted to cook, by picking our choice of vegetables, and chicken or fish. We then prepared no less than 12 curries, and made coconut milk from fresh. All the coconut milk, oil, spices and many additional veg were picked directly from Madhu’s garden. The meal we prepared was delicious and so very authentic with home ground spices. Throughout Madhu and her mum and sister guided us through each step, as well as demonstrating both traditional and modern curries and cooking practices. It was a fascinating experience and far exceeded our expectations.

That was really nice experience. We learned a lot about sri lanka’s kitchen and used here spices. After lesson we could try all 12 prepared dishes that was awesome and so tasty .

It was a magnificent experience, we were very well accompanied by our guide. We really appreciated being able to go to a market and choose our vegetables. The workshop was very informative and well-guided. And especially after 20 days in Sri Lanka, this was our best rice and curry! I 200% recommend this activity

The cooking class was truly amazing — what a privilege! From the warm welcome, to learning about the ingredients, equipment and traditional cooking methods, and of course, enjoying the delicious food — I loved every part of it! I booked this experience for my foody sister-in-law whilst the whole family were travelling around Sri Lanka. My sister-in-law and wife absolutely loved the whole experience, and have yet to find a better Sri Lankan meal

We had a fabulous time during our afternoon with Madhu. We were collected from our accomodation and met Madhu at the vegetable market, where she explained textures and flavours of some veg that were new to us, before we selected our ingredients for the curries. We were then welcomed to her beautiful home, where she explained the features of their outdoor kitchen, including some equipment that has been passed through generations! Madhu is a great teacher, very warm, patient and explains things clearly. She talked us through the processes her family use to prepare their homemade oils and coconut milks, before we cooked 11 tasty curries and sat down to an amazing feast! This day was a highlight of our trip and I really can’t recommend Madhu highly enough.
