Allison, the born & bread Glasgowian, provided a great two-hour tour around old Glasgow with a fascinating lesson on history and architecture. No funny actors on this tour, as listed in Tripadvisor’s description. Also, the listed meet-up spot is WRONG with the construction going on at King George Square. Just dumb LUCK that we spotted a tour guide in a dayglo yellow vest outside the construction barricades. Not Alison’s fault. TripAdvisor’s fault for not keeping up with the issues surrounding a tour. We were in Glasgow for the day, took an hour-long train ride to the Square and were starting to panic about missing a paid-for tour because we couldn’t find it. Our cell phones had very poor reception in the area and calling for assistance didn’t seem like a viable choice. Glad it worked out, in the end. Would recommend this tour about the history of the region.
The walk was excellent, despite the rain. Full of insightful social and political history. Also gave a view of modern Glasgow and how it has evolved. Very enjoyable and well worth the money.
thank you Sherpa
Starting point is difficult with all the construction. Guide should look for groups of people before starting the tour.
every guest is sent a message the morning of the tour around 06:00. Guests arriving by cruise ship who do not have connectivity or don't have "Whatsapp" sometimes miss the detailed joining instructions. We meet fifteen minutes before and start promptly. So read the instructions and turn up on time as 99% of guests do.
Fun and entertaining, loved learning about Scottish history. Martin was very knowledgeable and kept us all engaged during the tour.
thank you Denise
Gordon was wonderful. Great knowledge and humour. I will go again with family
Thanks Anne
This two-hour swing around the old city was enlightening and fun. Martin was engaged with us, and with his city's past -- I had never known Glasgow was deeply involved with American tobacco or the slave trade before, or why. His background as an actor provided a contrasting view of modern Glasgow as a movie location. Well worth it.
Thanks JoAnn
Luke was a wonderful guide. He mixed history with fun facts making the tour so enjoyable! Highly recommend!
