It was really great this excursion, it's pretty sporty up early because we are Of course caught with the watch between the bus then the boat and again there the bus but it is really to be seen. It's still a budget because there's a lot of transport from Heraklion I don't regret. Excursion without meals
Dear Marie Laure, Thank you for your feedback. We’re glad to hear you found the excursion worthwhile and enjoyed the experience despite the early start and full schedule. The beauty of the destination truly makes the journey worth it. We’d love to welcome you again on another Cretan Holidays excursion to explore even more of what Greece has to offer!
Very disappointed. Tour costed $207.52 per person and it was four of us. Advertisement is very deceiving . It’s estimated 12 hour tour, but it was only 10 hours including 2 & 1/2 hour Ferry ride. We were only given one hour at Oui and 2 hour at Fira. It was so crowded and rushed and chaotic. Tour was very in unorganized. This tour is not worth it. If Ferry cost was $105 per person, Big bus taking us to Oia and Fira should not be more than $30 per person. I booked this tour because it had Pick up at my hotel option, but they changed it to no pick up… so I had to drive 45 min . I should just buy Ferry ticket myself and hire a taxi to explore the island…
Dear Guest, We’re sorry to hear the tour didn’t meet your expectations. The listed duration includes the ferry ride, which is part of the experience. Santorini is one of Greece’s most popular destinations, and while it’s stunning, it can sometimes feel crowded. Regarding the pickup, you had chosen the no transfer option, and we had informed you in advance about the possibility to switch, but this wasn’t arranged. We always strive to ensure our guests have a smooth and enjoyable experience and hope to welcome you on another Cretan Holidays excursion in the future.
Really well organised trip got on ferry and was told what bus to catch at destination for our guided trip around the island of Santorini.
The day trip was very well organised through Crete Tours, no complaint with the company that took us,Santorina was a bit blah🙁We were picked up from our hotel in Stalis at 6:20am by air conditioned coach a few pick ups on route to ferry. We then collected our tickets for the Sea Jet -worth noting that it is allocated seating so no rush to find your seat. The ferry very clean and comfortable. There was a light swell in the sea and I mean light. many people's started being sick literally! Babys and children crying. It was like a domino effect once one started lots of passengers followed, the staff had their work cut out to rush around giving out sick bags ! I don't know what it would be like if it was rough! Once we arrived on Santorini it was back on a coach to take us to Oia -where the blue domed churches are, up a very steep winding road - not for the faint hearted this was more stressful than the boat ! Think the film Italian Job where the bus hangs off the cliff. We then had to endure more sickness on the coach from yet another small child. Oia was very pretty if you don't mind squishing through crowds of people all hoping to get a photo in front if the "famous " blue domes. Not enough time to just chill have a drink and wander about. One and hour hour here. Think swimming up stream like salmon but the salmon going in all directions. We then got back on the coach to Fira one and half hour here, again very crowded . Paid 10 euros for a yoghurt and 4.50 euros for a Coke but by now I'd given up! I would imagine Sanorini is very pretty in the evenings when us day trippers and the 4 cruise ships including one that looked like a sky a scrapper had left. Our guide told us 15 thousand residents on the island that doubles with tourists and cruise ships in ! Back on the coach down the steep winding hill to the ferry then being hearded onto an open back ferry with staff shouting move quick, quick with a wistle blowing, all that was needed was a couple of vicious dogs barking at us and I would of thought I had been arrested and was being transported to a prison. Litteraly they closed the huge door on the shop as the last person stepped on and off we set whilst we were herded up the stairs and told to sit ! My advice is to fly and stay for a few days and get better experience. Please do not consider this trip as a family with children in tow it is long it is hot and it is non stop. As the photos show a pretty island but other Greek islands are prettier, friendlier and nicer, buy a postcard and keep the dream as its better than the reality. I've added one of the packed streets which is what you won't see on a brochure.
Dear Tess, Thank you for your detailed feedback. We’re glad to hear you appreciated the smooth organization of the day and the service provided throughout the trip. The photos you uploaded are truly beautiful! While they do show a crowded street, they also reflect the stunning scenery and unique charm that make Santorini so iconic. As one of the most famous destinations in the world, Santorini naturally attracts many visitors, especially during the summer months. We understand this can affect the atmosphere, but the island's beauty still makes it a memorable experience. We understand the day felt long and intense, especially with the heat and children. However, we feel the comparison to barking dogs and prison transport is a bit excessive. The port authorities and the ship staff always try the best for the safety of the passengers. Regarding your final thought, yes, Greece is home to many beautiful islands, each with its own character and charm. Thank you again for sharing your impressions, and we hope to see you again soon!
Roland was hands down the best tour guide we could have gotten. He was friendly, funny, gave us insight on Greek history and vocabulary as well as giving us recommendations on where to eat with the best prices. Definitely made the day very pleasant.
Dear Jennifer, Thank you for your kind words! We’re thrilled to hear how much you enjoyed the day and that Roland made such a great impression. We hope to see you again on a future excursion!
Very busy and touristy, the island itself is not particularly beautiful but does have an interesting geography. After a long boat trip we went in a caravan of about 20 buses towards Oia. There are mainly the famous white and blue structures. But they turned out to be only the sacred places. Nice to see but obviously less impressive than on all those beautiful pictures. The many tourists form a stream of people where you have to watch where you walk but also have to pay attention to pickpockets. After an hour and a half you have to be on the bus again and then you go to Fira. Not less touristy but bigger so it feels a little less crowded. You can also take a boat to the volcano on the nearby island for an extra fee. The volcano has collapsed and has no point up but is more of a funnel. We didn't make that visit. After two and a half hours of Fira you go back to the boat. If you don't like mass tourism, do something else. There are more beautiful and authentic Greek islands. € 170 p.p. paid for this day trip. Furthermore, everything is more expensive on Santorini than, for example, on Crete.
Dear Ed, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. Santorini is indeed a very popular destination, and while the crowds can sometimes affect the overall feeling, the island’s unique volcanic landscape and iconic architecture continue to attract visitors from all over the world. Although some areas may feel more touristic, many guests still find the geography and views truly memorable. We’re sorry to hear it didn’t match your expectations, but we appreciate your perspective. We hope you’ll consider exploring another beautiful excursion with Cretan Holidays in the future, there are many stunning and more peaceful destinations to enjoy across Greece.
Everything was very well organized, excursions, transfers. Very friendly and professional staff I recommend
Dear Pierre, Thank you for your lovely feedback. We truly appreciate your recommendation and look forward to welcoming you again.
Highly recommend! Just read if the transfer picks up at your hotel. They messaged me that they didn’t so we drove to the port & parked, it was super simple. Getting our boat ticket was super easy! I loved that it was informative on the bus and then we were left by ourselves when we got to the two cities. I loved it all. We are so happy we did this day trip. We went in may so it wasn’t super crowded.
Dear Shannon, Thank you for sharing your experience! We're happy to hear everything went smoothly and that you enjoyed the balance of guided information and free time. It’s great that you chose to visit in May, such a beautiful time to explore without the crowds.
