Din rejse begynder i maleriske Positano, en by beliggende mellem bakkerne og det krystalklare hav på Amalfikysten. Besøg det historiske centrum og opdag dets skjulte skatte, såsom katedralen i Sorrento, de barokke kirker og det suggestive kloster i San Francesco. Meta di Sorrento er et perfekt sted at besøge for at beundre Sorrento-halvøens skønhed. Positano er måske et unikt sted i verden! Det er en juvel af spontan arkitektur, sat på klippen med udsigt over havet. Klynger af farverige huse, nogle gange med et kubisk udseende, er bygget på ofte meget stejle trin, som går ned til stranden, forbundet med gyder og lange trapper.
Legenden siger, at de mytiske sirener levede i dets hav og fristede Ulysses med en melodisk sang. Og stadig i dag går på det hav - med blå og grønne refleksioner, i tusinde forskellige nuancer alt efter solens spil - kan man forestille sig, at Sirenerne kommer frem fra bølgerne - smukke og overbevisende. Men måske er Sorrento en sirene, der betager og forhekser med duften af citron- og appelsintræer, med oliventræer med mørke snoede stammer og sølvblade, der bevæger sig langsomt, med en let lyd, i vinden, der kommer fra havet, med klipper født fra en vulkans vrede i det fjerne.
Pompeji er en by i Campania, beliggende i Napoli-bugten og på skråningerne af Vesuv-vulkanen. Det er en by med meget gammel oprindelse: den blev født som en osansk bosættelse, blev senere beboet af samniterne og derefter, fra det første århundrede f.Kr., erobret af romerne. By begravet ved Vesuvs udbrud. I dag er det kendt som byen, hvor der er et af de vigtigste arkæologiske steder i verden. Den romerske by blev faktisk begravet af lava efter Vesuvs udbrud i 79 e.Kr. Lavaen og asken har været en slags dækning, som har gjort det muligt for byen at opretholde sig selv gennem århundreder og være beskyttet mod dårligt vejr; netop derfor er byen forblevet intakt og kan besøges i dag. This was a lovely tour of Sorrento, Amalfi Coast and Pompeii. Paolo was our driver and was very professional and affable. He gave us time to allow us to explore the shops in Positano, but was also considerate that we needed to avoid spending too much time so that we did not miss out on seeing Pompeii. This was about an 8 hour excursion and we needed this time - Pompeii is an expansive site, it is important to give yourself time to see this adequately. An additional entrance fee to the archaeological site will need to be paid (about 20 Euros). We had the pleasure of been driven in a comfortable vehicle and a driver that is very knowledgeable of Naples. During the Pompeii tour we were given headphones to listen to an expert tour guide as we followed her through the labyrinth streets and corridors of this historical site. A splendid tour that has sparked our desire to revisit Naples, thanks to Paolo!
