Guy and Lebron got us on the fish quickly. After a couple hours, half the family were seasick (not the crew’s fault) but we had already caught 8 Mahi Mahi. We caught a 9th on the way back. We then went back to the beachside restaurant and Guy got our caught grilled and served within minutes of being caught on the boat. Very good for families with younger children. Ours are 8 and 11.
The captain and crew were supper friendly. They continuously worked their tails off to put us on fish and keep us satisfied. They offered way more than the listing described. Our group hooked 4 dolphin and lost one due to a tangle. We also caught 5 barracuda. We were completely satisfied with the entire experience. Being the avid fisherman we are, we knew what to expect. This is fishing, not catching. We have spent thousands on bait and fuel in the past with zero fish caught. That is exactly what did not happen on this trip. We had great interactions with the crew. We all caught fish. And have absolutely zero complaints. Just have realistic expectations and I promise you will leave satisfied.
We arrived to the dock and when we boarded our vessel we quickly noticed ours was the most run down of all of them. We were out by other vessels on the water and every other boat was catching fish. We hooked one, but after looking at the hooks, we quickly realized why we weren't catching any because the hooks the guy was using were so rusted. The equipment was all in really awful shape. We could have easily caught fish had the equipment been better. It was also really disappointing to watch the first mate and captain just throwing garbage over the side of the ship, and letting garbage fly out.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. We take all comments seriously and have reviewed your concerns. Our boats and fishing equipment are regularly inspected and maintained in accordance with operational and safety standards before each trip. Regarding the fishing experience, results depend on natural conditions and cannot be guaranteed, as marine conditions and fish activity vary daily. We also maintain strict operational and environmental procedures on board. Any behavior that does not align with these standards is not part of our company practices, and your comments will be taken into consideration as part of our internal review process. We appreciate your feedback. Kind regards.
Very mixed opinion because the weather conditions were complicated, instead of cancelling, they made us go out to sea
Cordialement,
The crew was great and we caught 3 fish in 15 minutes. Our trip was cut short due to 3 members of our group getting sick. Be warned, this is a deep sea fishing excursion and be ready to ride the waves... all of them. The crew was fun, knowledgeable, and helpful especially when the nausea started for the littles. If we stayed out the whole time, we probably would have caught so much more. We ended up with one Mahi Mahi and two barracuda. Great time even though it was cut short.
Great experience with Carlos and Guy on the Divina. Included transfer from Riu Palace Bavaro. We were picked up at 7am and did a 6 hour fishing charter with a briefing by Francesco before leaving. Had a awesome time! Caught 4 mahi mahi and lost 3 other fish. Had a sandwich lunch included and beverages. When we got back to the boat our captain talked to a local restaurant and they made up some fresh ceviche and baked some of the fish for us to enjoy! All around a wonderful day!
Carlos and Guy on the Divina are awesome,,they did everything they could to put us on fish and we ended up with 7 barracuda
I want to share an honest review to help future anglers set expectations. This is not meant to hurt anyone’s business—just to give perspective from someone with offshore fishing experience. For background, we are avid fishermen with experience offshore and targeting pelagic species. This trip was booked about a week in advance as our travel to the DR was relatively last-minute. Reviews were generally positive, which influenced our decision. Before booking, I was very clear that we were staying in Cap Cana, at the marina, and wanted pickup and departure from there. I was told this would not be an issue. However, on the morning of the trip, we arrived at the Cap Cana marina only to be called and told a car was waiting for us. We were then driven about 30 minutes to Bávaro. At that point it became clear that the operation does not actually depart from Punta Cana or Cap Cana, but from Bávaro. We were dropped off in a small alley, walked down to the beach, and transferred via a beach panga to the main boat offshore. This was not communicated in advance and was disappointing given how explicitly we discussed departure location. I also learned that Francisco, who I had been communicating with extensively and believed to be the captain, was actually the booking coordinator, not the captain of the boat. Again, not a dealbreaker—but something I would have preferred to understand up front. The vessel itself was older and dated. That’s not necessarily a problem if the boat is solid and capable, but expectations matter. We were told on the beach that we would be running 8–10 miles offshore. Once underway, it became clear that wasn’t going to happen. The gear was serviceable—Penn and Tiagra 50s and 80s—but lines and lures had clearly seen better days. This trip is much more aligned with a casual, family-friendly fishing experience than something geared toward experienced offshore anglers. About an hour into the trip, mechanical issues surfaced. The boat lost steering entirely and we had to shut down and wait offshore. After roughly an hour and a half, we were towed back in and the trip was over. To their credit, Francisco met us on shore and immediately offered a full refund without hesitation, which I appreciated. We also tipped the crew despite the outcome, as they were courteous throughout the situation. At the price point, this charter may represent reasonable value compared to other destinations—but only if expectations are properly aligned. If you’re an experienced angler looking to run far offshore on a modern boat, this may not be the right fit. If you’re looking for a casual fishing outing while on vacation and are flexible on logistics, it may suit you just fine. Hopefully this helps someone else make an informed decision.
Hello Mr. Colby, I am very sorry that you did not have a good experience with us. You booked a charter through the Viator app, and the information we have listed does not say that our location is in the Cap Cana marina. The information says that our location is in Plaza Vecarian, next to the Jellyfish restaurant. Also, the day before the excursion, I sent you the pickup details and told you that the pickup would be by bus and that my location was approximately 35 minutes away. Regarding the boat and the engines, approximately two hours into fishing, one of the transmission hoses on one of the engines broke and was leaking lubricant, so the captain was forced to shut off that engine. However, our boat has two engines, and the captain decided to return slowly with one engine until he encountered another boat that we had sent to intercept. They never stopped fishing, and on the way back, they caught barracuda and wahoo. You also received a 100% refund of the money paid. Once again, I am very sorry for what happened.
Great experience even though we didn’t catch a fish. Great boat ride with friendly and helpful staff.
It was great even though we only caught a small barracuda. The fishing gods were not on our side today. I have an AFO on my right leg, I can't get it wet, and have mobility issues. They were very helpful and found some trash bags to keep it dry. One note, you have to get into a boat at the water edge/ beach and then take a boat ride to the actual charter. My wife and both my daughters got sea sick and the first mate was really kind a apologetic to them. I would recommend giving them a shot because they couldn't have been nicer. We are definitely going to give them another try the next time we are here.
