Vi krydser Chao Praya-floden under denne enorme bro for at komme til den anden side af floden og bringer os til Bangkoks grønne lunge
Som alle de bymæssige floder er Chao Phrays historie sammenflettet med den by, den flyder gennem. Det oprindelige websted blev valgt af tidlige bosættere på grund af dets frugtbarhed og rigelige fisk. Senere Kong Taksin, efter faldet Ayutthaya til Burmese, placeret sin nye hovedstad her på de vestlige banker i dag kendt som Thonburi. I 1782 etablerede kong Rama I, der fandt de østlige banker gunstigere, moderne Bangkok og fejrede lejligheden ved at bygge nogle af verdens mest forførende templer. Senere er kanalerne, der feeds, blevet berømte, og tjener Bangkok til at være dets 'Venedig i øst' epitet. Og i mellemtiden fremhævede fornemte vestlige forfattere som Maugham, Conrad og Coward Chao Phraya som en af deres yndlingssteder i Fjernøsten. Vi vil krydse denne flod to gange med langhale båd.
Her er molen vi ankommer til Bangkrachao, eller Bangkoks grønne Lung.
Bang Krachao-øen er en grøn oase lige i hjertet af Bangkok. Denne urbane jungle er faktisk synlig fra de højere etager i mange boligblokke langs Sukhumvit Road, Sathorn Road og Narathiwat Road, men den forbliver ukendt for de fleste rejsende. Bang Krachao er intet som det tropiske paradis Koh Lipe eller Koh Kood. Det er dog unikt og fantastisk i sig selv. Bang Krachao er faktisk en menneskeskabt ø beliggende i Chao Praya-floden. For år siden blev en kanal skåret over, så fragtbåde kunne forkorte deres rejse langs floden. Bang Krachao omtales almindeligvis som "Bangkoks lunge", dette skyldes den enorme mængde træer, der æder byens luftforurening op. Der er tusindvis af mangrovetræer omkring øens omkreds og meget mere jungle på selve øen. I en by i hastig udvikling er Bang Krachao et sted, der har formået at modstå forandringer. Så du må hellere besøge før det er for sent!
Selv om vi absolut ikke stopper ved hvert tempel forbi vi forbi, er der nogle templer / seværdigheder, der stopper for og ikke nævnes i listen over "attraktioner" i området. Vi stopper ved en lokal hinduistisk statue / tempel, spiser et måltid på en lokal restaurant og meget mere. Lad os overraske dig
Sri Nakhon Khuean Khan Park og Botanisk Have ligger i Bang Kachao Sub-District, Samut Prakan-provinsen med et areal på over 200 Rai. Dette sted blev etableret for at være kildeproduktion af frisk luft, den offentlige park til afslapning og motion for folket. Det er også et sted for økosystemundervisning på plantearter og dyr både lokalt og i nærliggende område. Derfor sammenligner det sig som en af en oase for byens folk, der vil opleve naturen, den lokale livsstil og undslippe Bangkoks kaos. Haveens karakteristika er en kombination af offentlige parker, som landskabet er blevet arrangeret smukt. Den består af vandplanter, lokale planter, der er i stand til at vokse inden for brakvand og bevare den oprindelige landbrugshave, som var den oprindelige frugthave. Denne park og botaniske have er en Greenfield, som regeringen erklærede at være "lungene i Bangkok." En træbro er for besøgende at slentre på fredeligt og skyggefuldt område, herunder det 7 meter høje tårnudsigt, der kan fange hele scenen af dette areal. This tour was excellent and I would recommend to anyone visiting Bangkok - especially for people who have already seen the main attractions. Our guide Pike was brilliant and so knowledgeable, we really learnt a lot about Thai culture despite having been to Thailand many times. We really enjoyed visiting a temple without any other tourists, the kids loved the Thai boxing, it was interesting to see the rural areas we passed and we enjoyed a delicious lunch at the end. The day started so well: certainly, early rise for a departure at 7:30, but general enthusiasm of the 3 children for a green ride in Bangkok. What a disappointment!!! Here we go on poorly maintained bikes (speeds do not pass), with, to start, a good 15 minutes on an ULTRA busy road with trucks and scooters that brush us. It is difficult to reach the entrance of what seems to me to be paradise: the “urban jungle”, the “forest”. A huge scam! Terribly narrow paths, sometimes with a ditch of more than two meters and a road almost impassable on bicycles that are absolutely unhandling, very poorly maintained (speeds... decorative since they do not pass). The journey is ENDLESS to reach a fish observation point (we feed fish, so...) then a bird observation tower where Americans scream at the top of their heads so not a bird in sight. We are shown trees (we don’t hold anything back, especially since the roads are then either so narrow that we have to go down to turn, or roads by cars and trucks – so we focus on staying alive, and we clearly don’t look at the trees.) The ordeal continues: visit a temple in Ganesh, stop at a pseudo-Thai boxing school (a champion who won a tournament 40 years ago amuses the gallery, clearly a tourist catch), another temple, a local market... it’s endless, it’s terrible heat, we want it to stop! We finish with 20 minutes of cycling in full sun at 1pm on the road!!! If I had known, I would have stayed in Bangkok instead of giving in to this pseudo green trick. I bitterly regret this excursion: we finally returned at 3pm to the hotel, day totally shot for no advantage. You should absolutely avoid.
Dear Helene, Thanks for taking time to comment on every platform you can find. Translating your review to English I understand you assumed you've booked a walking tour instead of a bicycle tour. During the ride it appeared you weren't used to any traffic. Our guide did try to set the tour to your liking as much as possible. At least your family-members enjoyed the ride and the THB 500 tip you gave to the guide is actually the opposite of your review. I feel sorry you booked something and was obviously misinformed by the agent that sold you the trip. Hope you will enjoy the rest of your stay in Thailand.. Kind regards, Andre Breuer
For a second time we have choosen the colours of Bangkok by bike. And we were not disappointed, despite the very hot temperatures. Bas, our guide, did an excellent job, we felt anytime safe and enriched by his explanations. In addition to that we appreciated the tasting of several local products on a very nice, local market. The lunch was generous and authentic local food: excellent as well as the location!
