Overall, the place is disappointing. For parking, we followed the public transportation information and parked at the Capecure parking lot, which is served by free shuttles. It was perfect. The aquarium itself is disappointing: very crowded, noisy, and above all, almost no explanation about the animals we see. The very discreet digital screens that present them contain no information other than the name, whether the species is endangered, and possibly one descriptive sentence. The sharks present in the tanks are not explained at all, even though there is a gallery dedicated to sharks! Those in the gallery (pictured) are the most well-known specimens in the world and not those in the aquarium. Too bad. The ecological message is delivered in a not-so-subtle way. The shop is in total contradiction with the message, with products made in China and plastic objects despite the pollution these objects represent. As for the exhibition on IFREMER, the boat's gangway moves and it amuses people, but there is no in-depth explanation of the mission of this wonderful institute. A clear preference for the Brest aquarium, which is much richer in explanations.

Mixed experience due to the summer crowds. We followed the site's advice by arriving in the morning, but traffic and access to the aquarium parking lot were long and complicated. There seemed to be fewer people when we came back out around 3 p.m. The crowd was very dense, the rooms very noisy between music, shouting, and crying, which made the visit exhausting. The large tank is impressive but not very beautiful and there are few aquariums in the end. The most interesting thing for adults is the information on global warming and some positive initiatives on this subject. It was disappointing for the teens who like aquariums. For the little ones and their parents, it felt more like a nightmare because it was so crowded.

Hugely disappointed following our visit yesterday. It seems to me extremely greedy to allow so many visitors with no consideration for the enjoyment of the guests coming to the attraction. It was so busy it was hard to move and breathe in places. The sound of children crying was everywhere in the aquarium and I didn't see any smiling/ happy faces. Visiting with a 3 y/o and 6 y/o and a baby, it was a real challenge to find somewhere to sit down and feed the baby, including in the picnic area where most people had to sit on concrete floor among cigarette butts to have their picnic. For the price of the tickets I expected much MUCH more. Would advise anyone to avoid this place and instead visit the old town of bolounge Sur mer which is beautiful and very welcoming.

I am a big fan of aquariums and I was very disappointed by this one. It is marketed as the "largest aquarium in France," but in reality, that is based solely on the main tank. The rest of the aquarium is very lacking in fish, and I would even say that it is one of the least fish-rich aquariums I have ever visited. To put it briefly: the aquarium consists of a succession of rooms, many of which are simply rooms with explanatory panels, video games, or photo booths. There are a huge number of activities of this type, with a scientific theme, revolving around Ifremer, their research vessels, etc. It is ultimately rare to come across actual aquariums in this complex. However, if you come for that, you are inevitably disappointed. I would add that, compared to other aquariums, the presentation of each section is really disappointing: the tanks are dull, flat; neither the composition nor the lighting is interesting. This last point is actually quite paradoxical, because we recently visited the tiny municipal aquarium in Dunkirk, quite by chance, and I had been stunned by the incredible talent condensed into this minuscule aquarium, which checked all the boxes. Here, it is the total opposite: the aquarium is huge, empty, with a few areas dedicated to fish scattered here and there and poorly put-together themes. Let's add to that that the visiting conditions are absolutely wretched in season: a crazy crowd even though we came at the earliest time slot, the one that is recommended, and the aquarium sells tickets by time slot. It's quite simple: Châtelet-Les Halles, in Paris, is an airy place by comparison. You are literally walking on top of each other; the slightest aquarium (rare, therefore) easily gathers about thirty people huddled around it, and the slightest tank becomes a waiting line to have the opportunity to take a quick look before giving up your spot. It's just crazy. I have never seen this in my entire life, even though I have visited aquariums all over the world. Incidentally, even with perfectly suitable temperatures outside (22 to 25 °C), this influx makes many rooms suffocating, and the heat in certain spaces is difficult to bear. The aquarium's ventilation is very clearly undersized to accommodate such a number of visitors. The problem is that this crowd is completely contradictory to the large spaces empty of fish, filled with scientific panels, since one simply has neither the time nor the space to read them under these conditions. Imagine a Disneyland Paris where two-thirds of the attractions had been removed to tell us about the history of the park's construction... That would be strange, wouldn't it? With the crowds, the lines, etc., we simply wouldn't have the time to stroll through these purely informative spaces. That's a bit of the feeling I had here. I have the impression of an aquarium that tried to achieve too many goals at the same time and fails in most of them: * Boasting about being a gigantic aquarium, but clearly without having the means to obtain a sufficient density of fish, which forces them to fill the rooms with... emptiness (a lot of emptiness). * Highlighting its partnership with the Ifremer laboratory, which has a branch nearby, by filling said rooms with a lot of interesting scientific content, but completely missing the mark in relation to the atmosphere and the configuration of the place. Furthermore, this content is often quite repetitive. * Wanting to become the "Disney of fish," but without the necessary infrastructure. Oh, and let's add that, despite all the signage and communication efforts, the few areas dedicated to fish are quite poorly explained. There are indeed generic interactive panels, but no simple description that allows you, at a glance, once in front of an aquarium, to say to yourself: "Ah yes, look, it's this species, and it represents such and such an environment." That is quite the irony, all the same. Another point that struck me: there is an enormous amount of scientific content surrounding global warming. It is even the main theme throughout the visit. I have nothing against it; I am myself very sensitive to ecological issues. But even for me, I found it heavy-handed. The message is hammered home without finesse; there is literally a movie theater with the little baby seal suffering, we check off all the clichés. I perfectly understand that it is necessary to sound the alarm, but the English have an expression for that: *trying too hard*. One gets the impression here of a message hammered home repeatedly, notably to fill the large spaces devoid of fish, in a way that lacks subtlety. Let us note that it is quite ironic that after hours spent in spaces inviting visitors to do their part to protect the environment, one ends up in a shop mostly filled with stuffed animals that are admittedly stuffed with recycled plastic, but whose shell is itself made of plastic fibers, even though microplastics constitute one of the main pollution problems today. In the same way, after explaining to us at length the damage caused by maritime freight transport, the importance of local production, etc., the majority of the items sold are manufactured very far from here. Once again, that is quite the irony, all the same. In short, the visit is long, very long (we spent nearly six hours there while having lunch on-site), and honestly, considering what there is to see, I do not think it is worth it, neither in terms of price nor in terms of time spent. If you wish to see fish in an aquarium that is admittedly small but of exceptional quality in the North, go to the municipal aquarium of Dunkirk. Otherwise, visit some of the most beautiful aquariums in France, such as the one in Le Croisic, or even zoological parks like Pairi Daiza.

Avoid in August I think that the main objective in high season is not animal welfare but revenue.. they do not limit entries.. having enjoyed my visit 4 years ago, I am extremely disappointed. I am not even sure that the center is up to code in terms of safety and risk... They pack areas with people, folks are shoving and stepping on each other... Especially since what interests the public is more about taking pictures of their children for social media in front of aquariums fogged up by the lack of air and the large crowd, especially in the small rooms.... I think it would be wise to gauge or regulate entries into this place, which deserves all our attention. Today it is impossible to settle down and read the explanations regarding the species on the signs, people are everywhere! Not sure about coming back...

Magnificent, modern, clean, very friendly staff....to be completed with the behind-the-scenes tour, very well explained.

Place to see absolutely, the different pools are magnificent. Prefer an off-season visit to fully enjoy the spectacle.
