Ella Rock Vandreture (solopgang-tur, god morgen-tur, solrig eftermiddagstur)

I visited Ella Rock with my friends and it was one of the best experiences of our trip. The hike was enjoyable, and the views from the top were absolutely stunning. Our guide was very professional and focused on safety throughout the journey. He carefully guided us along the trail, making sure everyone stayed together and felt comfortable. I had a great hike and was so happy to have had a guide based on the reviews and route (you can certainly do the hike without a guide, but a solo female traveler, I wanted the safety). The hike was beautiful and my guide pointed out different plants and animals (we saw several chameleons). I needed to take it slow once we hit the incline, and he was very flexible and patient, allowing me to take whatever breaks I needed. He also took great pictures!

I did the 4am hike with Sam and it was absolutely excellent. He has a calm demeanour, a perfect amount of chitchat for that time in the morning, and shared a lot of interesting knowledge about the crops being grown en route. He was also very considerate & helped guide my feet when I was stumbling, and took us back a different route so I could see the waterfall. The views for sunrise were breathtaking. I was nervous to do this solo, hoping a group would be going, but it was a great experience. It took 4 hours total, with 1 hour sitting at the top watching the sunrise. It's very steep and uneven (tree roots, rocks, mud) going up so beware of this if you're considering it!

The first day we were supposed to be picked up we waited outside from 4:00 AM to 4:45 AM with no communication. After writing and calling the direct number, they finally picked up but continued to have us wait. We then were told the car was broken down, but had to keep asking if that meant we would be going or not. They finally told us it was cancelled and gave us the option for refund or to rebook. We rebooked for the next day and our guide was amazing and very knowledgeable. We had a 7 year old with us and he made sure to help her and give small breaks as needed. The description also states water, tea, coffee, and biscuits when you reach the top for sunset and we were only given bottle of waters. There was no tea or coffee which makes the price more expensive than what we experienced in my opinion. The sunrise and stars were gorgeous and we were also able to see a water fall towards the end of the hike. The overall hike experience and guide was amazing! I don’t fault our guide at all. The lack of communication from the company in not being picked up the first day and the inaccurate description of the experience is why I give it two stars.

Fabulous hike up Ella rock with Shan - we thought it would get cancelled with the rain but to our surprise it didn’t so don’t give up straight away if it’s a bit wet! Shan was great and checked everything was ok and miraculously the rain eased and we were able to go up the rock - and even better we were the only ones there who had bothered to try! So the experience was very special. Shan was friendly, helpful and a very confident guide. He taught us about the local environment and history whilst we hiked, and also let us have moments to ourselves to appreciate the amazing views. Would highly recommend him! Thank you so much Shan.

You can climb Ella Rock with just fee payable too top to the National Park. By the time you have arranged a ride and collection, paid park tickets etc… I’d highly recommend this hike as everything is organised and guided. Lots if info on the area and anything you need to know about plants trees etc. plus you will know where to go as the bottom part isn’t signed well or obvious unless you are Lucky enough to follow someone else who knows where they’re going.
