Day tour Central Lombok (Tetebatu). Special requests were spontaneously addressed. I was traveling alone and was looked after with driver, guide and trainee Nining. Nining with her open hearted nature speaks perfect English. Nice tour to get an overview of Central Lombok.

The tour exceeded my expectations. Waterfall and terrace rice are amazing. The guide had great knowledge and knew very well where to find the monkeys in the forrest. Nice walk for about 3 hours. My driver, Rizwan, arrived on time, was very friendly and explained a lot to me on the way to Tete Batu. Only confusing thing is the name of the tour: temple.... I did not see a temple. But therefore lots of fruits, coffee, coconut....

Tetebatu tourism is another tour that many visitors visit, with its natural beauty, its watershed, its waterfalls and also the hospitality of people around.

Our driver and primary tour guide, Wawan, picked us up at the port with no issues. Our day consisted of visiting real villages to see how a local co-op community wove these intricate and beautiful cloths (we bought one!). Next we did a tour of the rice fields (we actually walked through the rice fields) and they showed us how they cultivate and dry rice. Then we picked up Eddy, another local guide who took us to a nearby local establishment that made coffee from scratch and they showed us that process and we got to sample their coffee. It was really good so we bought some to bring back home with us. Then we went and saw some folks cultivating coconut and dry cooking it into a powder. We had the opportunity to drink coconut water from a coconut as well (smile). Our last excursion was a hike to the waterfalls, definitely for the more daring and not faint of heart but we made it and it was worth it! Quite the adventure for some 50 something year olds. After the waterfalls Wawan took us to a local restaurant for lunch and we enjoyed a delicious Indonesian meal of our choosing. I had the chicken curry and white rice and it was delicious! Lunch and all admissions were included in our fee. We had the option to go see some monkeys after lunch but none of the 6 people in our group were interested in that so we opted to just have Wawan return us to the port. Wawan and Eddy were excellent tour guides! Their English was very good and they were just lovely hosts. Everyone we met throughout the day was friendly, warm and welcoming. The only small comment was that there were 6 people in our group and it would have been nice and more comfortable if the vehicle was a bit bigger (like the other passenger vans that picked us up on the other tours we experienced on our Asian cruise trip at the other ports). We also had to squeeze Eddy in the vehicle for a bit as well. Eddy was extremely gracious and offered to carry my bag (contained water shoes and towels for me and my husband) for me for most of the tour, I especially appreciated him carrying it when we did the waterfall hike. All in all a really fun day with very friendly and knowledgeable tour guides. It was a great way to kick off our cruise with the first port tour. Would definitely recommend it to others!

Our Private Tour to Tetebatu was not as we expected. Pros: 1. Our guides and driver were very good and friendly. 2. We stopped at a Weaving Village, not on the tour description. We were given a tour by a local woman which showed how they weave and live in the village. We enjoyed this, the weavings are beautiful, but we did feel obligated to buy. 3. The Tetebatu village walking tour and walk through the rice terraces led by a local young man were much appreciated glimpses at rural village life. We were shown how they grow and harvest rice, coffee, spices, and coconut oil. 4. Lunch at the local restaurant was excellent. We had many choices and enjoyed them all. Cons: 1. The info on the tour led me to believe we would see the Lingsar Temple as part of our tour. We were told that because we came from a cruise ship, the temple would only be possible if we wanted to add it at the end, for an additional cost. 2. We were told to wear shoes that could get wet because we would have to walk through water to get to the first waterfall. We did. But we were not told that the path to the waterfall is a steep descent to a very rickety bridge. When the bridge ends, you do not just walk through water. The water is a rushing river and you need to walk in water among boulders, and find footing and places to hang on to the rock wall. We chose not to risk twisting an ankle and turned around, back over the rickety bridge and up the steep ascent. 3. Because of that experience we chose to skip the 2nd waterfall. 4. The monkey forest was a nice hike. But at this point we were very hot and no monkeys were found. Not the guides fault, we realize they are wild animals. 5. We returned to our ship at 4 pm after starting at 8 am. So we did not add to the tour. 6. If the description of the tour had been better, we would have asked to see the weaving village, Tetebatu village and rice terraces walking tour, lunch, and the Lingsar Temple, and skipped the waterfalls and monkey forest. Since it was a private tour, being given these choices would have been better.

The guides were very knowledgeable and took a lot of time to answer all our questions. They helped me every step of the way since I couldn’t walk so well at times. We loved seeing how the locals lived and made things. We saw them weaving and making coconut oil. Lunch was good also.
