My wife and I recently embarked on a one-day overnight cruise on the Doris in Ha Long Bay, which turned out to be a mixed experience. Unfortunately, the cruise started on a sour note as our luggage was lost during transit. This mishap left us without our swimmers, making it impossible to participate in activities like kayaking or enjoying the jacuzzi, and we also had no change of clothing. On a positive note, the scenery of Ha Long Bay was as breathtaking as ever, offering a serene backdrop to our cruise. However, the food served on board was just average and didn't particularly stand out in terms of flavor or presentation. The cruise manager offered a 10% discount on our bar bill as compensation for the inconvenience caused by the lost luggage. While the gesture was appreciated, it felt inadequate considering the credit card fee nearly consumed 4% of this discount, leaving us with a minimal reduction in our expenses. This compensation hardly made up for the lost opportunities and discomfort caused by not having our belongings. In summary, while the natural beauty of Ha Long Bay is undeniable, the experience aboard the Doris was marred by logistical issues and lackluster compensation efforts. It's a reminder that sometimes the small details can significantly impact the overall enjoyment of a trip. When we left the cruise, we were finally reunited with our luggage, which had been taken back to Hanoi rather than loaded on the boat
