I spent three weeks traveling with my 18-year-old niece and Sisay, Adefa Tours' All-Terrain guide! We went to see the volcanoes of Afar, hiked in the mountains around Lalibela and in Gheralta, and visited ancient hilltop churches. Passionate about Ethiopia, Sisay is an avid reader of history books and collects local stories from priests and farmers, much to the delight of those he guides across the country. He is also an excellent hiker and mountain guide (he grew up in the high mountains of Lasta). Thanks to him, we were able to discover the culture and see unforgettable landscapes. Sisay adapted to what we wanted to do and always found solutions for everything. Curious, open-minded, and funny, he was more than a guide: he was an excellent travel companion. No one will be disappointed. I hope to see you again soon, Sisay! Long live Adefa Tours!

I booked a two‑day tour with Adefa Tours as a solo traveler, covering an Addis Ababa city tour and a day trip to Wenchi Crater Lake. Overall, it was well organized and easy to book. The Addis tour was a good introduction to Ethiopia, especially the National Museum. Sisay, my guide, was very knowledgeable and clearly enthusiastic about Ethiopian history and culture, which made the experience engaging rather than scripted. The Wenchi Crater Lake day trip was the highlight. It’s a long day, but everything ran smoothly—from the early start and coffee stop, to the hike, waterfalls, hot springs, and boat trip across the lake. Horseback riding was also included. Sisay was flexible throughout the day, adjusting timing based on my pace and interests. All logistics were handled as promised, with private transport, entrance fees, and water included. Not a luxury tour, but a reliable, informative option that works especially well for solo travelers.

We spent the day with Sisay and got an exciting and genuine experience of Addis. Every place he took us felt well thought out and unique. Without this tour, it feels like we would have missed a lot of the Addis experience. Sisay was also very flexible when it came to our wishes and a human Wikipedia for all our questions about Ethiopia.
Addis Ababa was a truly wonderful and magnificent discovery, thanks to our guide Sisay, who took us through the city, its museums, its various neighborhoods, its churches, and its "Mercato" - an experience unlike any I’ve ever had before. The Addis Ababa market is a city within a city, crowded, noisy, colorful, simply unbelievable. Sisay introduced us to incredible people, let us taste exquisite fruit juices and coffee that Ethiopia can be proud of, and, of course, capped off the tour with a view of the city from its hills and a chance to savor the local cuisine, which is so flavorful and healthy.

A day that I will always remember spent with Sissay my tour guide in Addis Ababa. I discovered a treasure trove at the Bete Mariam Orthodox Church. An amazing place with a starlight dome filled with Ethiopian and European art some of which dated from antiquity. The crypt in the church was accessed by a narrow vault in the floor leading to the royal tombs of Empress Taitu, Emperor Menelik, Empress Zewditu and Princess Tsehai Haile Selassie.The kind of splendour you only see in Europe and Egypt. Do not visit Ethiopia without seeing this great wonder of Ethiopia. Our tour ended with a visit to the moutain towering Addis Ababa from where we had a wonderful birds eye view of the city. This was a lovely day i will never forget and thanks to Sissay the excellent tour guide.
