Fantastic food tour. Stopped at loads of local spots enjoying a wide range of Cambodian eats. Excellent value for money. Jackson our guide was superb.
What an experience! JB took us on a wonderful tuk tuk food tour through Phnom Penh that we thoroughly enjoyed. The tour covered a wide range of locations, introducing us to some truly exotic local fare. One dish that stood out was Popiah — we loved it so much that we went back to the same spot twice even after the tour had wrapped up, which says it all! What impressed us most was JB's depth of knowledge. He explained every dish in detail — the ingredients, the preparation, the cultural context — making the experience as educational as it was delicious. Travelling with a vegetarian spouse, I particularly appreciated how thoughtfully JB handled dietary requirements. He was careful to ensure that every dish served to us was free of fish oil, which is no small feat in Cambodian cuisine. That level of attentiveness made all the difference. The tuk tuk driver was an absolute delight too — friendly, cheerful, and made the whole ride part of the fun. Overall, this was a brilliant way to explore Phnom Penh's food culture. If you're in the city and looking for an immersive, well-guided culinary experience, JB's food tour is a must. We would highly recommend it without hesitation!

We had the most incredible experience with Urban Forage on their Phnom Penh street food tour. Our guide was exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable, making the whole evening feel relaxed and immersive from the start. They took us through bustling night markets we would never have had the confidence to explore on our own, sharing insights into the local food culture along the way. One of the highlights was being encouraged to step outside our comfort zone and try local delicacies — including insects! It turned out to be a surprisingly fun (and tasty) part of the night and something we’ll be talking about for years. Every stop felt authentic and thoughtfully chosen, and the whole experience far exceeded our expectations. If you want a genuine taste of Phnom Penh and its food scene, this tour is an absolute must.

We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Our guide was J.B. and he was fun, passionate, and informative. He explained everything about what we were eating (and the correct way to flavor it) We sampled a great variety of foods and finished the night in a secluded tropical garden sipping cocktails. We would recommend this tour to anyone with an adventurous appetite!

Absolutely excellent food tour! We went to a massive variety of places, most of which I never would have been able to find going by myself. The guide, Panha, was excellent, providing a lot of interesting detail on Cambodian food culture and customs, and was very friendly and interesting to talk to in general! Would highly recommend this if you’re looking to get a real, authentic sense of how locals eat.
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and experience with us! We appreciate your great feedback! Loads of Love, Team Urban Forage Food & Art Tours
Great experience to local places that were 'holes in the wall' with great tasting food! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and spoke great english. Tuktuks had unlimited beer. A few tips if I were to do it again: We did this when we first arrived. I would wait a bit for eating street food and let our stomachs catch up to the food. We ate SO much food. I would have rather paced myself and left some food at the beginning so I could eat more food at the end of the tour. If you are trying to do this on a smaller budget, you can do a food tour with a local Tuktuk driver or through Grab. Because of the curation of the restaurants, local food, and support for legitimate long time cooks - I would choose this tour again.
Thanks so much for your kind words and useful tips! We're delighted you had a great time and enjoyed the carefully curated stops! Loads of Love, Team Urban Forage Food & Art Tours
Jackson was the absolute best host to an array of Cambodian foods! He described the cultural significance of each dish and answered all our questions. Highly highly recomend!

Our guide Jackson was lots of fun and we had a few jokes in Australian slang. He was attentive and the tuk tuk drivers were lovely and made sure we were always well hydrated and comfortable. Would highly recommend this tour if you want to try some safe traditional street food. Thanks so much guys!

This was a wonderful evening - experiencing local street foods at many points around the city. We really enjoyed not only the food, but also the company of our fellow guests.
How fantastic that you had such a great group to enjoy the evening with! We're thrilled you had a wonderful evening. Loads of Love Team Urban Forage Food & Art Tours
Good representation of Khmer food for first timers e.g. num banhchok in two different ways (plain and a version with curry), num pang etc and we weren't taken to tourist traps. I also thought it was neat that we had a spontaneous spot to see street art. However, I felt that there was context and depth lacking around the cuisine and stalls beyond being escorted around different food spots to feel like the tour actually added value and justified the price tag. For example, I knew about num pang's similarity to banh mi and the French colonial influence despite being a total newbie to Khmer/Cambodian cuisine, but I felt like fellow travellers would have benefited from this and other background. I have done food tours in Istanbul, Mexico City and Bangkok where I felt like I got more explanations with providers such as Culinary Backstreets. At one point, we waited about 15 mins to get to the final stop at Wild, a cocktail bar - it was pretty empty so I wonder whether it would have been possible to get there earlier as our group had finished eating. The tour is fine if you just want a local giving you a broad selection of dishes. I also didn't feel wowed by any of the food spots: they were alright to good, with the highlight being a roadside stall run by a lady serving dessert. I have no idea whether that is a popular dessert or what the name is, though. Really quite minor compared to the rest but it did leave an impression: I was the last to be dropped off by tuk-tuk and our guide left at the penultimate stop, but I felt that he was fairly cold while saying a final goodbye (no acknowledgement). It was late so I'm sure he just wanted to go home but could have been a little more professional. We also had a person from the Midlands in the UK and the guide several times (unsolicited) attempted a Northern accent (not even the same area!) probably to break the ice, which didn't receive any reaction so it would have been good to read the room. I know cultural sensitivity training isn't really a thing there, though and can't speak for my fellow traveller, but I did feel a bit awkward for him. Luckily I had great companions for my tour, so had a good experience because of them.
Heya, Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback about your experience with us. I’m really glad to hear you enjoyed trying dishes like num bahn choc and nom pang, and that the spontaneous stop added something memorable to the evening. We work hard to take guests to local, everyday spots rather than tourist restaurants, so I’m pleased that aspect came across. At the same time, I’m sorry to hear that the tour didn’t feel as rich in context and storytelling as you had hoped. Sharing the history, cultural influences, and personal stories behind Cambodian dishes is something we care deeply about, and your comments are helpful in reminding us how important that depth is for guests who are eager to learn more about the cuisine. I’ll certainly revisit this with our guiding team so we can continue strengthening that aspect of the experience. I’m also sorry that the end of the evening and farewell felt abrupt, and that some of the attempts at humour didn’t land as intended. Creating a comfortable atmosphere for everyone in the group is very important to us, so I appreciate you bringing that to our attention. Thank you again for your balanced feedback and for joining us. While I’m glad you enjoyed the company of your fellow guests and some of the stops along the way, we always hope to deliver an experience that truly “wows,” and feedback like yours helps us keep improving. Loads of love, Team Urban Forage
