Lepakshi-turen er en guidet tur til en arkitektonisk juvel fra Vijayanagara-imperiet. Det er en skattekiste af templer, skulpturer, malerier og andre kunstværker. Den hængende søjle i tempelhallen er et vidunder af gammel konstruktion. Det andet højdepunkt er mysteriet med Giants, som pr. Legender skulle have bygget de gamle sektioner af templet. Vi vil se efter spor af de beviser, som Giants har efterladt for deres eksistens!

Vi udforsker dette mesterværk fra 1500-tallet af Vijaynagara arkitekturstil. Først på linjen er det afsnit kaldet Mukha Mandapa, der fungerede som mødested for dans og andre kulturelle aktiviteter. Vi besøger derefter Artha Mandapa, hvor kongen gjorde sin tilbedelse, og hvor Garbha Griha huser guddommen. Det følgende er en unik bryllupshall lavet af grå sandsten med 38 udskårne monolitiske søjler, hvor Lord Shiva og Lady Parvati skulle have giftet sig i antikken!
Indias største Nandi Bull-statue vinker os til Lepakshi. Denne statue er lavet af en enkelt granitblok 15 fod høj og 27 fod lang. Vi kan undre os over den smykkede Nandi, der bærer en kaasu malai, en klokkekæde, øreringe og andre smykker!

Lepakshi is amazingly beautiful, a Must see for the delicate sculpture, colourful fresque and too cute monkeys. Mayuri, 5senses guide, was a delight to be with! Knowledgeable, open minded and very well organised. All was taken care off to perfection, I just had to enjoy discover and enjoy free of any hassle. Thank you Mayuri!
This ancient mini marvel of a temple was built during the reign of King Sri Achutha Raya by his treasurer Virupanna.Though has many pillars it is balanced by one single pillar.Paintings of shiva,krishna and other deities adore the roof of temple using natural colors. Marriage Mantapa is incomplete without roof as Virupanna died before it's completion.But pullers depict mythologically important characters including famous Girija kalyanam.Further mythological history dates back to period of Ramayana where folklore says it's here the great Jatayu s wings was severed by Ravana the demon when the bird tried to obstruct Ravana from kidnapping Sita wife of Rama.Statue of Jatayu is seen rock.

The organization was perfect, Vignesh (an exceptional guide) explained the history of Lepakshi main temple with great detail.
