I generally don’t do reviews (and trip advisor is a terrible app which I would love to give a terrible review) but I had such a great time with Essa and Ahmed that I have to let everyone one know how much I enjoyed it. We wanted to do five days which Essa tailored perfectly for us (met some guys that went with a bigger company and they missed the beautiful swimming hole). We are a bit older so are a bit slow, Essa was kind, encouraging and patient. Ahmed was the logistics guy and chef, their gear is top grade and new, and yes his lentil soup is that good ha ha. We are pescatarian and he took that in his stride. Love these guys and definitely recommend.

This hike was wonderful, it exceeded my expectations. I enquired from New Zealand via the website and Essa replied promptly with all the information I needed. Once we arrived everything was easy, very well organised, and nothing was too much trouble. We don’t eat meat, but that wasn’t a problem. Ahmad fed us so well, I loved the food (and of course the bowl of lentil soup served up each time we arrived at the campsite tired and hungry was really great). Coming almost straight off the plane from a New Zealand winter, I found the heat difficult, especially when walking uphill on the longest day, but Essa was always very patient, positive and encouraging. Every day was different and I enjoyed all of them, but I especially loved Wadi Ghuweir walking through the amazing canyon, and we even had a swim! Essa is an excellent guide, and he and his brother Ahmad are lovely people. I really enjoyed learning about Bedouin culture, and meeting their friends and family, drinking tea, and being invited to their family home for dinner. Their mum’s Bedouin bread cooked outside over the fire was so delicious. An extremely knowledgable man Mamoon guided us around Petra, and this was included in the hike cost. We have found Jordan to be a very friendly, welcoming and safe place to visit, and I can’t recommend this hike enough.

My trip with Essa was genuinely incredible. I was a little apprehensive about traveling to Jordan alone as a woman, but Essa and Ahmed’s trip proved to be the perfect introduction to a wonderful country. We did a week long hike, the vibe was great, crowds were non-existence (because of the war a few countries over), and price was fair. We at incredible food, the sleep set up (tents and super comfortable mattresses) was great, we had a truly authentic experience, and they tailored the trip to meet the group’s personal needs and interests. Most importantly though, they were just really kind and all around wonderful people. The entire time I felt like Essa and Ahmed genuinely cared how we were doing, even when the uphills got tough! I can’t say enough good things about them. If you’re thinking about going, do it. You’ll have the adventure of a lifetime.

I had an incredible experience with this Bedouin hiking guide company, and I truly cannot recommend them enough. From start to finish, everything was exceptionally well organized, which made the entire journey feel smooth, safe, and enjoyable. What stood out the most was that this was not just a hiking trip, it was a deeply enriching cultural experience. The guides shared their traditions, stories, and way of life in such a genuine and welcoming way. It felt like being invited into their world rather than just passing through it. The food was absolutely amazing, freshly prepared and full of flavor, and the Bedouin tea became a highlight of each day. Sitting together, sharing tea, laughter, and conversations under the open sky created moments I will never forget. The camping spots were carefully chosen and truly beautiful, offering peaceful, scenic places to rest after each day of hiking. Every detail, from the routes to the hospitality, reflected care and experience. If you are looking for more than just a hike, something authentic, memorable, and meaningful, this is the experience you want. I’m very grateful for the memories and would absolutely do it again.

Wow - "you can have high expectations" was Essa's catch phrase and became the quote of the week! What a great trip. Fabulous hiking with great support from various members of his extended family but particularly Ahmed who was quietly efficient and witty. Everything from upside down chicken to star gazing and Bedouin camps along the way was superb and the changing scenery from Dana down to Petra was fascinating. Hiking was not too challenging for anyone who walks regularly and the camping was made comfortable by good tents and decent mattresses! Meeting and being entertained by various distant cousins was the icing on the cake and made this into a real eye-opener to the Bedouin way of life and innate hospitality. Petra obviously the icing on the cake and even here, Essa had ensured that we had "the best guide who is THE expert on Petra". We were not disappointed! Thank you Essa and Ahmed

Our family of four had an amazing time trekking from Dana to Petra with Essa. The scenery is stunning and the experience of entering Petra, away from the crowds, is magical. Delicious meals plus a light day pack made every day a joy. One afternoon became rainy and stormy and Essa quickly arranged for an alternate route - ensuring that our group would be safe and comfortable. Next time I would love to hike from Petra to Wadi Rum!

My wife and I went on a trip with Ahmed and Essa at the end of January and beginning of February—and it was a great decision. There were no people on the route at all, just us, the desert, and the stars. The guys showed constellations with lasers, created a cozy atmosphere with fairy lights at base camp, and cooked fantastically delicious dinners. Magloba, mansaf, kanafeh. For the vegetarians in our small group, they prepared separate local dishes. Thank you so much for your advice, help with organizing our vacation, and for even helping us get back to Amman after the tour; the transfer was well-priced and extremely comfortable. You guys are the best.

It was my first big trip abroad - and it was incredibly easy! Before our trip, Essa carefully consulted us on every issue. Hamza, his colleague, met us in Amman and drove us to Dana in a new Ford pickup truck. It was great that Essa suggested where we could hike without a guide and where with one, thus helping us save money. After the Dana-Petra trek, we also hiked from Petra to Wadi Rum. I can say that he is one of the most pleasant guides I've ever encountered, and he is definitely trustworthy – he truly puts his passion into his work, loves Jordan, and knows a lot about the history and locations. Thank you for an unforgettable vacation!

This was far and away the best adventure our family of four has ever had. We’ve hiked glaciers in Iceland, mountain biked in Ecuador and climbed in Peru’s Sacred Valley - but the Dana to Petra trek with Essa was on a completely different level. The scenery is stunning and the experience of entering Petra from the rear, away from the crowds, is magical. Delicious meals plus a light day pack made every day comfortable and enjoyable. Essa was extremely knowledgeable and made sure that our trip was safe and fun. We recommend this trek with Essa 100%!!!!

I’m a female solo traveler and did the hike from Dana to Petra, and It was an absolutely amazing experience! Essa was a fantastic guide. He was very thorough and helpful over text before the trip, and during the hike he explained so much about Bedouin traditions and Jordanian culture. The food in the evenings was delicious, and Essa, Ahmed, and the rest of the team were great company at the camps. Everything was very well organised from start to finish. This was definitely a highlight from my trip to Jordan, and I would 100% recommend it!
