An incredible day in the oldest living rainforest in the world! This tour was so much fun. Our guide was knowledgeable, the croc cruise was super interesting and the ice cream was DELICOUS. Highly recommend for anyone wanting a day out in this absolutely magical place.
We took part in the Billy Tea Safaris – Daintree Rainforest Tour and, unfortunately, we came away very disappointed and, above all, very unhappy with the experience, despite one positive aspect. The main positive was the guide on the crocodile-spotting boat cruise, who was genuinely passionate and engaging. This was clearly the part of the tour where we received the most interesting information, particularly about the animals, and where we genuinely enjoyed ourselves. However, for a tour that is supposed to allow you to discover the Daintree Rainforest, we found the organisation extremely disappointing. We spent far too much time on the bus and around meal times, at the expense of actually exploring the rainforest and enjoying nature. Everything was strictly timed, down to the minute, which made the experience feel more like a mass tourism operation than a genuine exploration of the Daintree. The rainforest walk was very short, on a very touristy trail, and gave us very little opportunity to actually immerse ourselves in nature. We found this particularly frustrating considering the time and money spent on the tour. We also spent an excessive amount of time on the bus, with very little time actually dedicated to exploring. The explanations were also very limited. Most of the information was given on the bus, but in a very monotone voice, which made it difficult to stay engaged. We would have really appreciated more information about the rainforest, its wildlife and flora, as well as information about the different swimming spots and waterholes and where they were located. The air conditioning on the bus was also a major issue. It was far too cold, and we even asked for the air conditioning to be turned off or at least reduced because we were genuinely freezing. Despite our request, the air conditioning was not adjusted, which made the already very long bus journeys particularly uncomfortable. The organisation also gave us a strong impression of mass tourism. It is a very large tour company, with several of their vehicles following each other along the route. We even saw three of their trucks travelling one behind the other. This really reinforced the feeling of an assembly-line style tour, with very little room for a more authentic experience. As for the food, the portions seemed very small, and everything was served very quickly and in a very “assembly-line” way. For the price we paid, we expected something of a much higher standard. Drinks were also not included in the tour price, which we found quite disappointing. Overall, we are really frustrated with this experience. We chose this tour to discover the Daintree Rainforest and spend time surrounded by nature. Instead, we felt that we spent far more time on the bus and eating than actually exploring the rainforest. The boat cruise guide was excellent, and this clearly saved part of the experience. Unfortunately, it was not enough to make up for all the other negative aspects. For the price, we genuinely expected much more. We wanted to spend more time in nature, receive proper explanations and have a more immersive experience, with much less time sitting on a bus following an extremely rigid schedule. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this tour if your main goal is to really discover and enjoy the Daintree Rainforest.
Wonderful day with Andy. Great value with all the extras, morning tea, river cruise, lunch, ice cream and an excellent tour guide.
We really enjoyed the rainforest walk and the cruise where we saw many crocodiles. We highly recommend this tour!
This is a very professionally run tour company with excellent vehicles and very knowledgeable guides. We went as a family with my 7 y/o daughter and were very pleased with the variety of the itinerary - incredible to see a number of crocodiles in the wild on the Daintree river, an amazing rainforest walk bought to life by oue guide Graeme, a paradise beach at Cape Tribulation, and of course my daughter loved the ice cream place! Highly recommended.
John was good, friendly Lunch was nice - good selection We saw crocodiles and a cassowary which was very special.
A really great tour. Managed to get a lot done without feeling overly rushed. Our guide Rowan was really knowledgeable and thoughtful. It's a big day but totally worth it to see the daintree.
Our guide James was very knowledgeable and we learnt a lot. Loved the Daintree walk and we were so lucky to see a Cassowary, what a privilege! Daintree River cruise was also excellent, fabulous guide on our boat! A wonderful day.
We had a very informative tour. The guide was excellent
Terrific day. Pick up on time, adequate information beforehand, heaps of information during the day about place, some of the history, and practical timing arrangements. Marvellous to see different parts of the Daintree zone including a river cruise and crossing, rainforest, and Cape Tribulation. Quite a bit of walking around at various stops during the day, surrounded by magnificent nature. Memorable!
