Kun en kort køretur fra hjertet af Nairobi giver Kiambethu Farm at Limuru et roligt indblik i livet på en bosættergård. Kiambethu blev købt og opdrættet af AB McDonell i 1910. Han var den første person til at dyrke, lave og sælge te kommercielt i Kenya - nu en af Kenjas største eksport. Fem generationer har boet på gården, og det drives for tiden af hans barnebarn Fiona Vernon. Gården ligger i smukke haver omgivet af te og indfødt skov - hjem til Colobus abe og masser af andet dyreliv.

Pickup på dit hotel eller ophold i Nairobi CBD kl 9:45 og start kørslen til Limuru ankommer kl. 11 og over en kop te eller kaffe er gårdens historie og processen med at lave te uformelt forklaret efterfulgt af en mulighed for at se te i marken. Så tag en tur i den oprindelige skov med vores bosiddende kenyanske guide, som vil identificere planterne og forklare, hvordan de traditionelt anvendes. Hold øje med Colobus aberne tæt op og vandre i haverne, der er hjemsted for et bredt udvalg af fugle og blomster. Gå tilbage til huset for at nyde en forfriskende drink på verandaen med flot udsigt over tefeltene til Ngong Hills. Nyd din tre retters frokostbuffet fra vores menu, der er tilberedt med grøntsager fra haven og desserter er toppet med fløde fra vores besætning med Channel Island køer. Senere er afsted til dit hotel eller ophold i Nairobi CBD.

This tour was so beautiful and serene! My driver, Isaac was wonderful as well, he transported me safely to the tea farm, and on the way back to my hotel, was even kind even to stop at the road side markets at my request, so that I can make some purchases from the locals. I would highly recommend this excursion when in Nairobi, you won’t be disappointed!

The trip was perfect. We had a great driver with local knowledge. Once at the plantation, we could not stop the smiles. We experience the garden in full bloom, pleasantly cool weather, and greeting monkeys. The owners and staff were knowledgeable and friendly, and the food plentiful and savory. Best for adults and older children.

Such a fabulous day out, great to see a different side to Kenya so close to Nairobi. Fiona, Sarah and their team were so engaging and the tea tour was great and food and gardens amazing, you won’t be disappointed. Look out for the gorgeous monkeys and abundance of birdlife. Also highly recommend my driver Jane from Perfect Safaris. So informative on the drive there and back and varied the route so I got to see Nairobi. Her driving skills are pretty impressive too!

Had a great time at the tea farm. The owner gave some history about the farm, how to harvest it, and different types of tea. The estate is beautiful. The food was great. Stephen was my driver for today and he did great. He was very nice. If you are looking for a laid back day, I highly recommend this.

Such an interesting day - learning about tea production, exploring the beautiful garden and having a short guided walk through native forest. The visit ended with a splendid home cooked lunch, with many foods grown in the garden and water on the lawn. As I arrived early, my driver Stephen even took me for some extra visits on the way. Many thanks to out hosts at the tea farm and the guides and driver.

This day trip was excellent. We were met at our hotel on time and the drive out to the Tea Farm was very educational. The Tea Farm property was simply awesome and so beautiful. Fiona (the Owner) and her team welcomed us and made our visit very special. We learned so much about the property history and how tea is grown and processed. The lunch was excellent and I would highly recommend this day trip.
