I 1939, da embedsmænd i Kreml tegnede grænser omkring Vilnius-regionen, der skulle returneres til Litauen, blev Stalins pibe lagt på kortet. Alle var for bange for at flytte den væk, så de trak simpelthen stregen rundt om røret. Vi tilbyder en fornøjelig dagstur fra Vilnius til landtangen omgivet af den hviderussiske grænse. Unik region i Litauen frosset i tid. Smuk natur, slotte, bjerge, gamle kirker, naturvartegn og grænsesikret zone venter på os under et dagseventyr til det glemte hjørne af Europa.

Afhentning fra hotellet og kør til Medininkai-slottet, der ligger lige ved den litauiske/hviderussiske grænse.
Medininkai Slot ligger 32 km fra centrum af Vilnius. Medininkai Slot blev bygget i slutningen af det 13. eller begyndelsen af det 14. århundrede. Ifølge den dækkede plads er det det største slot i det nuværende område i Litauen. Slottet blev bygget i overgangsperioden fra romansk til gotisk stil, og det er et af de tidligste indhegningsslotte i Litauen.
Nyd den maleriske udsigt, mens du kører gennem et åbent terræn. Meget kort stop ved Turgeliai for at se en smuk kirke. Navnet turgeliai dukkede op, fordi byen tidligere var kendt for store landmændsmarkeder.
Republikken Paulava (Pavlov) er et af de mest unikke fænomener i litauisk historie. Det er en autonom republik, der eksisterede i det 18. århundrede, i livegenskabets tid, i Merkinė, ikke langt fra Vilnius, i det nuværende distrikt Šalčininkai, og som havde sin egen forfatning, våbenskjold, præsident, bondeparlament , penge, statskasse, gensidig bistandsfond, milits og skole. Efter at have besøgt Republikken Paulava kører vi til "Dieveniskes Loop". Der er et lille checkpoint for at komme ind i Stalins rør. Det er meget tynd fred af land kun 4 km bred. Efter et kort stop er vi endelig i appendiks af Litauen.
Vi kommer ind i isthmus checkpoint. Dette er ekstremt smalt kun 4 kilometer bredt stykke land omgivet af den hviderussiske grænse. Ved indgangen kunne rejsende blive bedt om at fremvise dokumenterne.
Der er 13 enkeltgade etnografiske landsbyer, såsom Lastaučikai, Poškonys, Grybiškės og Rimašiai, som blev dannet af Valakas landreform i det 16. og 17. århundrede. Selvom de har beholdt deres struktur indtil i dag, blev de fleste af de nuværende bygninger i disse landsbyer bygget i slutningen af det 19. eller begyndelsen af det 20. århundrede.

The company had quick response to our inquiries and were able to help with the day visa. As US citizens we were unsure about being able to cross the Belarus border. Martynas did all the paperwork the day prior, picked us up from our Airbnb early morning and we spent a wonderful day over in Belarus. He was very accurate with timing it would take to cross back. All 3 of us really enjoyed the trip and Martynas is a great guide. His English is excellent, he was very funny and enjoyable to spend a 16 hour day with. Highly recommend this company.

A different side of Lithuania from the usual sights in and around Vilnius so a hugely worthwhile and enjoyable day. Martynas was a friendly and knowledgeable guide and we saw no tourists anywhere despite visiting really interesting buildings, ancient sites, beautiful nature, and some incredibly unspoilt traditional villages. Visiting the border area and understanding too the day to day difficulties of moving between countries was also quite eye opening. We hadn’t quite known what to expect but had hoped to see and learn more about the country than the usual bucket list. We were not at all disappointed and would very highly recommend the trip.

When we booked this excursion we were not exactly sure what to expect - but it sounded unique and different which is what we got thanks to our great tour guide and driver Martynas. We visited all the great planned sites and more . He told us great border stories , took us to an amazing village where we met one of the residents who gave us apples and tomatos. Martynas came with us into the castles and sites to make sure we understood what we were looking at and made the entire day pleasurable . We went into the woods and picked some berries and mushrooms and at the end of our trip we stopped at a beautiful manor building where he shared some delicious local healthy snacks . He was the perfect guide on a perfect unique experience , my family and I had a fantastic day and this truly was different Lithuania . Thank You Martynas for a great day .

I recently took a solo day tour from Vilnius to the Belarus border with Different Lithuania in July 2024, and it was a fantastic experience. My guide was incredibly attentive and knowledgeable, making sure to answer all my questions and stopping for photos at just the right moments. The tour took me to several hidden gems, starting with the Medininkai Memorial and the serene Medininkai Castle, which was refreshingly free of tourist crowds. We visited St. Kazimir Church and climbed the Juozapinė View Tower for amazing views from Lithuania's highest hill. The Paulava Republic was a unique stop, rich with history, and picking wild berries near Grybiškės oak was a fun touch. Rimašiai village's traditional wooden houses and Norviliškės Castle added even more charm to the trip. We wrapped up the day at Bėčionys hillfort with a delicious picnic of local Lithuanian food, including rye bread, fresh vegetables, and chicken. This tour was a perfect solo getaway from Vilnius, blending history, nature, and culture in a memorable way. Highly recommended!
