Ceausescus styre anses for at være det mest undertrykkende kommunistiske styre i østblokken, meget lig Kim-dynastiet i Nordkorea, som gjorde hans styre i Rumænien som ingen anden. Du starter foran den næststørste administrative bygning i verden, Palace of the Parliament, som er en del af det sidste megalomane kommunistiske projekt.
En del af den gamle by blev næsten revet ned for at gøre plads til den nye Socialist Victory Boulevard.
Inspireret af Garnier Opera fra Paris, er dette sted knyttet til starten på demokratiet i Rumænien, men også til starten af den kommunistiske bevægelse.
Bygget i 1980'erne, en del af Socialist Victory-boulevarden, er dette vartegn nu et vidunder med sine dansende springvand.
Betragtet som symbolet på det gamle regime, blev dette sted forladt under den kommunistiske æra.
Rumænien var det eneste land fra den kommunistiske blok, der endte i en blodig revolution, de fleste af ofrene blev skudt på denne plads.
Nu National Art Museum, dette sted fungerede som vinterresidens for Rumæniens kongelige familie, men i de første år af kommunismen blev det Republikkens Palads og en protokolbygning.
En af de mest repræsentative bygninger i Bukarest, vi trykte den stolt på 5 lei-sedlen.
Hovedbygningen på denne plads var kommunistpartiets centralkomité, hvorfra Nicolae Ceausescu holdt sin sidste tale foran det rumænske folk.

We had a wonderful trip together with our guide Daniel… you could tell he is extremely passionate about the topic and answered all our questions with expertise. We would definitely recommend this trip if you want to get a real understanding and a nuanced image of communism and its rise and fall in Roumania and what it has meant to the Romanian people… Eye-opening!

Daniel was a wonderful guide: passionate, funny, very knowledgeable about the past and present of his country. He went out of his way to show us photos and videos from the 80's and 90's, gave us many recommendations and was, in general, a very pleasant person. The tour was amazing and our guide was really really great. His name. His name is Daniel and he’s very knowledgeable about history and you can see. He has a passion for it.. he was also very gracious and helped us when we were hit by a terrible storm in the middle of the tour. He helped us cover and protect ourselves from falling trees. Great guy
We had an absolutely amazing tour with Daniel and cannot recommend him enough. He was incredibly attentive to the needs of the group and always made sure everyone was engaged and enjoying the experience. What we especially loved was how interactive he made the tour. He showed us photos and videos of the historical events he talked about, which made everything so much more interesting and memorable. You can immediately tell that Daniel is truly passionate about what he does and his enthusiasm is contagious. We were genuinely impressed and would recommend every group to ask for Daniel.
