Today’s Sandwich Harbour adventure was easily one of the highlights of our Namibia trip — and a big part of that was our guide, Louwrens. From the time he picked us up until he dropped us off, everything ran like clockwork. Louwrens knows this coastline like the back of his hand and kept us entertained with stories about the Namib, the wildlife, the harbour and its history. He knew exactly where to stop for the best photos, and somehow managed to make driving over enormous dunes look completely effortless. We, meanwhile, were hanging on and pretending it was effortless too! Desert on one side, Atlantic Ocean on the other — pretty hard to beat. If you’re in this area we highly recommend this tour, and don't forget to ask for Louwrens. He turned an amazing landscape into a truly memorable day.

Walvis Bay Esplanade
Vores første stop er ved Walvis Bay esplanade. Her ser vi Pink Flamingos. Vi lærer om de større og mindre flamingoer. Vi falder vores dæktryk til 0,8 bar og er klar til at tage på strandturen. Vi passerer de lyserøde saltsøer i Saltminen og passerede hundredvis af vadefugle og palæarktiske trækfugle i lagunen, langs kysten til den tårnhøje Sandwich-havn. Storslåede vidder, når klitterne kommer tættere på havet. Vi kommer ind, hvor klitter møder hav på en smal strandstribe. Fantastisk klitudsigt og gåture venter os. Vi tager en tur i maven i rutsjebane til udsigtspunktet Sandwich harbor. Bugten ligger for dine fødder, omgivet af Nara-busken. Sandede sandbanker er oversvømmet i bugten, og det grønne hav med blå himmelrøde klitter er helt fantastisk. Vi tager en klittur til de bedste udsigter, søger efter dyr i ørkenen og leder efter et unikt picnicsted. Frokost med udsigt til klitterne, stille, meget stille kun os omkring. Vi har tid til klit- og strandture.
Walvis Bay
Vores rute tager os gennem klitterne og en game drive, hvor vi kan se strudse, oryx, sjakal og springbuk. På stranden sover eller leger sælerne måske, og hvis vi er heldige vil vi se delfiner og hvaler. Ruten er tilbage langs kysterne med tusindvis af fugle. Desværre ender vi i Walvis Bay. Vi tanker op og lufter op og tager dig tilbage til dit hotel.

Sandwich Harbour tour with Louwrens — 5 stars, no hesitation
We did the Sandwich Harbour tour today with Louwrens as our guide and it was easily one of the highlights of our trip to Namibia. From pick-up to drop-off, everything ran smoothly — timing, vehicle, lunch stop, the whole logistics side just worked. What really made the difference, though, was Louwrens himself. He's a natural storyteller — great stories about the area, the wildlife, the history of the harbour and the Namib — and he clearly knows this coastline inside out. He was incredibly attentive throughout, checking in with us, adjusting the pace, pointing out things we'd never have noticed on our own, and making sure we got the best photo spots on the dunes and along the lagoon. Driving the dunes where the desert meets the ocean is spectacular on its own, but with Louwrens it became a genuinely memorable day. If you're in Walvis Bay or Swakopmund, book this tour and ask for him. Highly recommended.

Andrew best guide ever!!!!
Best experience ever! Our guide Andrew was very knowledgeable, experienced driver and made us feel safe all the time! Lunch in the dunes was fantastic and the scenery just incredible. Strongly advised to bring a scarf and sunglasses in case the wind picks up!

A not to be missed experience
Ferdie was our fantastic guide for the day and we had one of the most wonderful days I have experienced in my life. Utterly spectacular views, and driving through the dunes certainly got the adrenaline pumping. Ferdie's skills, experience and knowledge were masterful. Thank you for the best experience ever

Great tour and experience
we went on a tour with Andrew he was very informative, on nature, the dunes, animals living there. Served delisious meal for us, drive ups and downs the dunes. we can highly recommend this tour

Cool experience in the dunes
It was a very cool experience driving through the dunes to and from Sandwich Harbour. Victor was very friendly and knew a lot about the area and the wildlife. It is very impressive how the sea meets the desert. A bit of a light lunch, otherwise we were very satisfied.
