Qoricancha, eller "Den Gyldne Gård", var det vigtigste sted dedikeret til tilbedelse af solguden. Væggene var engang dækket af bladguld. På dette sted blev klosteret, der i dag bærer samme navn, bygget med polerede stenstrukturer. Det har en bemærkelsesværdig facade i renæssancestil og et unikt baroktårn samt en imponerende samling af malerier fra Cusco-skolen.
Navnet Saqsayhuaman betyder "tilfreds falk" på quechua. Denne fæstning blev bygget for at beskytte byen Cusco mod østlige angribere og er et glimrende eksempel på inkaernes militærarkitektur. Bygget med enorme granitblokke, hvoraf nogle når op til 5 meter i højden og vejer op til 350 tons, består den af tre store terrasser omkranset af kolossale stenmure, der strækker sig op til 300 meter i længden. På grund af sin nærhed til Cusco fungerede den også som stenbrud for nogle af byens koloniale bygninger.
Qenqo var et ceremonielt inkacenter med tunneler og platforme, der blev brugt til ritualer og religiøse ceremonier, hvilket viser stedets åndelige betydning for inkaernes civilisation. Qenqo har udskæringer, huller, trin og kanaler, sandsynligvis brugt til at deponere chicha (en majsbaseret drik) i inkaritualer.
Puca Pucara er også kendt som den røde fæstning, fordi stenene, den blev bygget med, har ændret denne farve på grund af deres høje indhold af jern. Ud over fæstningen kan man se andre arkæologiske strukturer såsom akvædukter, indhegninger og springvand. På grund af sin nærhed til Tambomachay og dens karakteristika menes det, at det udgjorde et militært fort til forsvar af dette sted.
Tambomachay, kendt som "Inkabadet", var et ceremonielt center dedikeret til tilbedelse af vand og et hvilested for inkamonarken. Den er lavet af udskårne klipper, som danner et smukt sæt af kanaler og vandfald, der kommer fra kilder. Slut på tjenester.

This was a great introduction to the archaeological sites around Cusco, our guide was knowledgeable, led us around the sites efficiently avoiding long ticket lines, and allowed plenty of time to walk around and take photos. I especially appreciate the option at Saqsayhuaman to choose whether to return on the bus or spend as much time as we wanted then walk back on our own. I chose to spend over 2 hours exploring the stunning site taking my time and had small picnic lunch that I recommend packing if you do this. Finally, I really enjoyed the roughly 30 minute mostly down hill walk through some picturesque residential streets back to the city center.
A fabulous Inca place, overlooking the city of Cusco!!!! We wonder how such a site could have been built when we see the size of the stones and their weight!!!!! It is advisable to take several hours to visit the entire site which is very extensive!!!!! Note that the welcome of Peruvians is really warm and really changes from that of French

I wouldn't recommend this experience to an English speaker. The guide was difficult to understand and the tour was rushed due to the guide needing to explain everything in two languages at each stop.
This place is really nice but after exploring Machupichu, the Sacred Valley or Sacsaywaman everything seems pretty much the same. Don't get me wrong I was fascinated with the majestic constructions but after a while, I got tired of it. It is worthy to see it. I suggest going there before going to Machupichu.

An amazing place, rain or no rain. The history of the place is amazing. Our guide told us how they moved the stones and part of the Inca structure, Seeing him in person is surprising. The pictures are great next to the big rocks and the windows still standing
