Ryan was such a great host! He had such a vest for life and so much knowledge of San Francisco. Every bite was good but he truly made the tour!
Great value. Great food. A lot of history. Def would recommend. Scott was very informative
Ryan was an excellent knowledgeable guide, and the food was plentiful and outstanding. Definitely go hungry and plan on eating delicious food
Fantastic tour!!! Lots of incredible information. We walked around Chinatown for over an hour before the tour and somehow the tour took us to so many places we missed! It was really one of the best food tours I’ve ever been on. The food is a great variety of Chinese and Italian and all of it was really delicious! Shoutout to our guide Ryan! He made the tour extra special with his enthusiasm!
First time in San Francisco and I now can compare what a food tour is supposed to be like versus the awful 1st one I had in Seattle. The tour guide Brian was everything a sense of humor, professional and just a class act to emulate. The tour went over so my money was definitely well spent. There is a lot of walking and steep hills, but Brian balanced everything out [ie: if you walked up a hill, the next time you are on flat land so you can get your breath back up]Make sure you have comfortable shoes for this tour. We got great samples, great history and information from the places we visited. I can truly say that I was thoroughly pleased!!!! THE BEST!!!!!
The tour was good, but I have been on better food tours. Isabella was very knowledgeable, but it was sometimes hard to hear her. She had a microphone, but it wasn’t too effective. The food was just OK.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I’m truly sorry we didn’t give you the kind of tour I hoped you would have. I’m especially sorry that it was difficult to hear Isabella at times. Even with a microphone, if guests are missing parts of the stories, then we’re not delivering the experience we want to provide. That’s something I take seriously, and it’s something we’re continuing to improve. I’m also disappointed that the food didn’t stand out for you. We carefully choose small, local restaurants that have been part of these neighborhoods for many years, so I’m sorry the tastings didn’t leave a better impression. My name is Tom, and my family owns and operates this small, local business. Every guest who joins one of our tours is someone who trusted us with part of their vacation. When we don’t live up to that trust, it stays with me. I’d appreciate the opportunity to hear more about your experience. I know we fell short, and I want to understand exactly where we did so I can fix those problems. I never want another guest to leave disappointed because of something I could have changed. You can reach me directly at 415-665-0480, tmedin@sffoodtour.com, or through Viator whenever it’s convenient for you. Thank you again for joining us and for your honest feedback. I appreciate that you gave our family the opportunity to be part of your visit to San Francisco, and I’m sorry we let you down.
Our guide, Andre, was very knowledgeable and gave us the history of the neighborhoods. We tasted delicious dim sum among other yummy Chinese and Italian cuisine. It was fun enjoying meals with our small group. Overall, we highly recommend this tour!
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. It truly means a lot to me that you chose to spend part of your visit with us. I’m so happy to hear that Andre helped bring both Chinatown and North Beach to life for you. One of the things I love most about this tour is watching guests experience two neighborhoods with such different histories and cultures in a single afternoon, and it sounds like you really embraced both. I’m also glad you enjoyed the food. Sharing dim sum, Italian specialties, and the other tastings around the table with a small group is something I believe makes the experience feel more like spending time with new friends than simply taking a tour. Thank you again for your kind recommendation. As a small, family-owned business, reviews like yours truly make a difference, and I’m grateful you took the time to support us. I hope we’ll have the opportunity to welcome you back the next time you’re in San Francisco.
Andre was our guide and he was THE BEST! He told us great history and stories about both Chinatown and North Beach (Little Italy.). He was great about being efficient and keeping everyone on track without mashing us feel rushed. We had several food stops, trying a great variety of interesting foods, and left feeling completely stuffed. Andre was so kind to all of the local street musicians and the unhoused, knowing many of them by name, taking care of them as we went along. Andre also knew many of the restaurant and shop owners along the walk, even if we were not stopping at those establishments. Andre was energetic and fun, the food was great, and we had a wonderful experience. Highly recommended.
Thanks so much for taking the time to write such a thoughtful review. It truly means a lot to our family-owned business. Andre has a special way of making people feel like they’re exploring San Francisco with a knowledgeable local friend rather than simply taking a tour, so I smiled reading your comments. I know he’ll be especially touched that you noticed not only his storytelling and energy, but also the kindness and respect he shows to the people who make these neighborhoods what they are. That’s genuinely who he is. I’m also delighted to hear you enjoyed the balance of history, food, and pacing. We work hard to create an experience where guests can relax, enjoy the stories, savor a wide variety of tastings, and never feel hurried, so it’s wonderful to know you left completely stuffed and with great memories. I’ll be sure to share your kind words with Andre—I know they’ll mean a great deal to him. Thank you again for choosing to spend part of your time in San Francisco with us, for your generous recommendation, and we hope to welcome you back the next time you’re in the city!
Andre was an amazing tour guide! We spent 4+ hours with him walking through Chinatown and North Beach hearing about the history of the city and its inhabitants. Andre seemed to know all the shopkeepers and restaurant owners. We ate SO MUCH. food! We made several stops in each neighborhood, trying dumplings, soups, teas, pizzas, gelato, cannolis... Don't plan on going out to dinner that night like we did!
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! It means a lot that you chose to spend more than four hours exploring Chinatown and North Beach with us. I’m especially happy to hear that Andre made such a great impression. He truly loves these neighborhoods, and the relationships he’s built with the shopkeepers and restaurant owners help make the tour feel like you’re experiencing San Francisco with a local friend. It also made me smile to read that you “ate SO MUCH food!” We definitely want our guests to leave full, happy, and with a deeper appreciation for the history, culture, and flavors that make these neighborhoods so special. Your dinner plans gave me a laugh—we hear that more often than you might think! Thank you again for joining us and for taking the time to share your experience. We hope to welcome you back the next time you’re in San Francisco!
We enjoyed our tour and our guide, Andre was awesome and was able to provide us with so much history and great stories about the city's past. He also told us a lot about the realties of the city post COVID which I found really interesting and made me want to explore other areas of the city even more to get a true appreciation for the city as a whole. Highly recommend checking this out to have some great food and learn a lot about the city and it's history.
