De overdækkede passager i Paris er en af byens skjulte skatte - elegante forløbere til moderne indkøbscentre, bygget i begyndelsen af det 19. århundrede. Når antallet er over 180, er der kun omkring 25 tilbage, efter at have overlevet Baron Haussmanns omfattende renoveringer. På denne tur vil vi udforske seks af de smukkeste og historisk rige arkader - perfekt til en regnfuld dag i Paris. Disse passager var mere end blot indkøbsgallerier - de var pulserende centre for socialt liv og kulturel udveksling, der blev hyppigt besøgt af forfattere, kunstnere og den fashionable elite. Vi vil stoppe for at se kolonnerne i Buren, en af de mest Instagrammed steder i Paris!
Efter at have udforsket de første få overdækkede passager, tager vi en kort gåtur til Galerie Vivienne, en af de smukkeste og mest historiske arkader i Paris. Bygget i 1823, det har udsøgte mosaik fliser gulve, neoklassisk indretning, og en fantastisk glas overdækning, der fylder galleriet med naturligt lys. En gang et trendy mødested for parisere fra det 19. århundrede, er det i dag hjemsted for elegante butikker, boghandlere og vinbarer - en perfekt blanding af historie og stil.
Vi vil fortsætte gennem kvarteret og passere ved Palais Brongniart, den tidligere Paris Bourse (Stock Exchange), bygget i begyndelsen af 1800-tallet og engang Frankrigs finansielle hjerte. Derfra leder vi mod den livlige Passage des Panoramas, den ældste overdækkede passage i Paris, der går tilbage til 1799. Lined med vintage butikker, stempelbutikker og hyggelige bistroer, det er et madelskers paradis - du vil helt sikkert gerne komme tilbage her til frokost efter turen!
Efter at have prøvet glæderne ved Passage des Panoramas, fortsætter vi ind i den charmerende Passage Jouffroy, bygget i 1847 og en af de første arkader i Paris, der blev bygget helt af jern og glas. Den deler sine mure med det berømte Musée Grévin, Paris' historiske voksmuseum, og huser stadig Hotel Chopin, et malerisk hotel fra det 19. århundrede, hvor ikke kun turister - men også Frédéric Chopins ånd - siges at forblive. Denne passage blander gammeldags charme med legende karakter, hvilket gør det til en sand parisisk perle.
Vi vil fortsætte forbi de charmerende udstillinger af vintage legetøj og håndlavede kanter ind i Passage Verdeau, det sidste stop i denne tre af 1900-tallets arkader. Passage Verdeau åbnede i 1847 og er kendt for sine antikviteter, gamle boghandlere og en nostalgisk atmosfære - en favorit blandt samlere og skattejægere. Allison and Riley knocked it out of the park with this tour! Not what I was expecting! So much more. I have been to Paris 6 other times and did not know about these passages! The learn the history behind the passages is worth the tour. But, you also get to see all of the cute shops!! Allison and Riley are personable and knowledgeable in so much more! Allison was friendly, knowledgeable, answered all our questions and took her time without rushing us. She surprised us with a little French dessert at the beginning of the tour and we ended the tour at a coffee shop where we enjoyed a cup of coffee together. This gave us a chance to talk further about French culture and habits. I would give this 10 stars if I could!! We would not have known about the passages had it not been for this tour - so this gave us a starting point for more exploration!
