Apostles was amazing. His knowledge was mind blowing. The battle of Crete in 1941 was the most important battle in WW2, had they lost we all would be speaking German.

Apostles arrived at our hotel to pick us up and drove us on an epic adventure. My teenager loves WW2 history and they had many informative conversations together. We made many stops. We had bathroom breaks and a light lunch break. I enjoyed the historical stories that Apostles had to tell. The historical sites and cemeteries were wonderful places to visit. We spent 6 hours on the tour on a beautiful day. I would recommend this tour for anyone who has an interest in the history of Crete during WW2. If you are a WW2 fan, you really must go if you are in Crete.
Thank you for your honest feedback, I really enjoyed my private world war 2 tour with you. Have a great day. Best regards, Apostolis Panigyrakis, professional historian and licensed tourist guide in Chania , Crete and Greece
I have previously done a few WW2 tours of places like Normandy, Bastogne and Arnhem, and was super keen to find a guide who could provide a detailed tour of the Battle of Crete while I was on holiday here. Fortunately I found Apostolis. I informed him before the tour that I wanted to come away from the day with a detailed understanding of how the Allies somehow managed to lose this battle. For context, the Germans thought there were only 5,000 allied soldiers on the island rather than the actual 40,000, took huge casualties on Day 1 as they fell from the sky on a windy day, and faced stiff resistance from the locals which they didn’t expect. But somehow still managed to win. Apostolis provided an outstanding detailed overview of how the battle unfolded and key moments including the unnecessary loss of Hill 107. Also fantastic detail on the German reprisals/war crimes on the island which I wasn’t previously aware of. 100% recommended for anybody interested in one of the key European theatre battles of WW2.
Thank you for your honest feedback sir. It is my honour doing tours with people that we share the same passion with. Have a great holiday
Apostolis, a proper Cretan guide, poured incredible energy and lifelong passion into a highly informative WWII history tour of Chania, taking extra time to ensure I saw a full range of sites like the stunning German cemetery and Suda Bay. He matched 85-year-old Battle of Crete photos to exact viewpoints, revealing bullet holes that pierced steel "like butter"—truly eye-opening! I highly recommend Apostolis!
