Beskrivelse

Great museum to learn about the history of this area

Great museum with lots of displays cataloging the history from early civilizations to current times. Beautiful building, over 4 floors with s beautiful outdoor patio with views of the marina. The displays have text in 4 languages. There are a few interactive displays too. My daughter is a history student and she loved the flow of the museum, very engaging. I loved that there was an elevator, ramps and even little portable seats in case the benches along the museum were occupied. They also had public toilets and there are restaurants along the marina side. It was a short walk from the hop on hop off bus tour stop so easy access for tourists. So glad we stopped here to learn about the region’s history and to admire the hard work that went into this museum.

A Splendid Museum

An information-packed museum that is logical to navigate with most text in English, Spanish and Catalan. Desk personnel are very kind and helpful. Displays are attractive and plentiful. Allow at least three hours to do this museum justice.

Beautiful museum and beautifully decorated

Beautiful museum. Particularly beautifully decorated and clear overview of the history of Catalonia. It gives a fine picture from prehistory to modern times. What was also pleasing is that the museum has apparently not yet been discovered by the large mass of tourists. In short: a great experience!

Very beautiful museum.

Very good SOF audio, but the QR code scanning for the visit was not available in French; the visit lasted a little over an hour with no waiting line at 1 PM. The staff was very pleasant...

So much to see, allow several hours!

This museum is huge and has almost too much to see!! Guy at the desk told us someone, with a particular interest in prehistory had spent 5 hours just in that part so didn't have time to look at anything else! There certainly is a huge amount of interesting information, it's well curated and well laid out. I thought it was really fantastic. My only criticism is that, as far as I could see....maybe I missed it as there is just so much there....there wasn't any acknowledgement of the link to slavery. Another museum had quite a bit about this, so it IS part of Barcelona's and Catalonia's history of trade and wealth, so I felt it should have been included in the exhibition somewhere. Otherwise, it's an amazing museum, well worth a visit and allow several hours as there is so much to look at.

Well arranged and lots of simple text

We went on a free Sunday afternoon and it was totally worth it It was not too crowded in December. The upstairs were well laid out with good explanations about the history and growth of the city from the Roman times. Lots of little writings (so not too heavy), and not overloaded with exhibits - so quite enjoyable. The basement is the highlight of the place with old excavations, but though they had enough signboards, the pictures on the signboards didn't exactly match what we were looking at and it was tough to decipher what was going on. It was VERY DIFFICULT to find the exit. We kept going up and down the stairs and spent more than 10 minutes to find it. Suggestion to Museum to signpost it clearly.

Very interesting

This museum was very well organized and gave a full history of the area and how it was settled. The displays were very detailed and looked very authentic. Allocate a few hours to cover everything. They even had an ancient stone grinder that you turned and you saw the flour coming out at the bottom which was very interesting.

History at your fingertips

A beautiful museum that traces the history of Catalonia from the Paleolithic to the present day. The exhibition unfolds on two floors, in old warehouses of the port, where the turning points of humanity are addressed, through the Catalan changes: from the discovery of fire to gunfire polevre; from Roman to Arab domination; from attempts at independence to Franco dictatorship. An interactive museum where you can experience first-hand experiences and lifestyles of the Spanish region, a way to make the study of history more captivating and engaging. A museum suitable for everyone and that concludes the visit on the beautiful terrace from which you can enjoy a beautiful view of the port and the city.
