Booked to be picked up at 7.30 am and no one arrived to pick us up after a 90 minute wait!! Called 10x and sent a message. Viator even called them and got no response. Wouldn't recommend booking anything through them. We definitely won't be.
DO NOT BOOK THIS TOUR!! We paid for the tickets online weeks in advance and got an email back with the receipt and a message that we'd get an exact time and location for pick up the week of the trip. When no information came, I called the number listed here - no answer. I left a message - no response. After the third time I called, the voicemail was full and I couldn't even leave a message. I emailed through TripAdvisor - no response. I texted - no response. I called Trip Advisor/Viatour and they called and they emailed - no response. So we went outside the morning we booked the tour and waited, just in case they showed up. No one showed up. Never a call, an email - nothing. Complete rip off!! Luckily, Viatour stepped in and refunded our money. But we lost an entire day in the Dominican Republic dealing with this instead of actually spending time snorkling and on the beach. What a rip off!!!
While I am greatly unimpressed with the staff and communication from the tour group itself, Catalina is 100% the place for snorkeling. When you purchase the excursion it notes the tour time is 7:30. That is not the time the tour starts. It is the time they leave from Punta Cana. Our resort was the closest to the port at La Romana and we were picked up at 9:45. We were told via text, after we could no longer cancel, that there would be a $20 transportation fee, despite being so close to the port. We also specifically chose an English speaking tour guide, because we do not speak Spanish. I’m not sure where that guide was because we never heard English on our excursion. We simply followed what everyone else was doing and still had a great time. The snorkeling gets 5 stars, the rest get none.
