The cardiff river boat cruise takes about half an hour and leaves from a pick-up point in Bute Park near Cardiff Castle. You can walk over the bridge to the pick up point, but if it is a nice day, then I would recommend walking round the outside of the castle and through the park as it is a very pleasant walk. The boat is called the Princess Catherine and there is a staff member on hand at the picknup point to answer any questions and provide assistance. You pay on the boat and can pay for a one way ticket ot a cruise round the bay. There is no guide, but you get a recorded commentary instead which is quite informative, although I found it a bit difficult to follow at times. The boat will stop in Cardiff Bay very close to the Welsh Parliament, which is worth a visit and there is also a shopping mall and leisure park there as well. For £8.00 for a single ticket, it is a very pleasant way to get from the city centre to Cardiff Bay and is good value for money.

Nothing to see. Just a boat ride. From point A to point B. The commentary is just about landscapes and buildings
And the history of the area, where the water that's in the Bay comes from and pirates. What else would you want from commentary about the local area?
No need to pre-book, just turn up and get in the queue. The staff were extremely helpful, informing us when the next trip was leaving and exactly which gate to line up in front of. Very enjoyable trip around Cardiff Bay. Would recommend you try it.
Lovely informative trip in the bay. Safe and comfy seats. Even the sun came out to welcome us to Cardiff.
We went on a return journey of the Cardiff Bay Boat Tour. It was such a lovely experience and the audio guide was really interesting. Would definitely recommend! There are loads of restaurants in the immediate Cardiff Bay Area.
Where to find you? Is it first entry on your right after main entrance to the Cardiff Castle?
Great little boat trip around the bay, with some interesting facts and history voiced over. The weather was great so we were able to sit up top on the open top boat and enjoy the fresh air and great views.
It was a nice relaxed hour around the bay. Good commentary and interesting facts. Very easy to book and no problem at all getting on.
Gives a useful insight into the Cardiff Bay development and is a comfortable ride with good visibility. Have a coat with you as the water is always colder
