Good Guide, But Too Much Pressure to Shop at Specific Stores Overall, the experience was decent, and there were definitely some positives, but there were also a few things I think future travelers should know. The tour guide name was Beshoy (Adam) he was friendly, punctual, and very efficient with transportation. Our pickup location was in a tricky area without an exact address, but he found us and arrived on time. He was also helpful throughout the day. When we got hungry, he even took us to McDonald’s and stayed with us, which I appreciated. My biggest issue, however, was that we did not have much freedom to choose where we wanted to shop. We specifically wanted to go to El-Khalili, but the guide insisted that we first visit an oil and natural herbs shop belonging to someone he knew. We initially did not want to go, but he encouraged us to try it and said we could leave if we didn’t like it. We ended up spending about an hour there. Throughout the shopping experience, he also frequently directed us toward people he knew and told us not to buy from other vendors because he could take us somewhere that supposedly sold the same things for cheaper. However, the prices at these recommended shops did not feel particularly cheap and, in some cases, felt closer to American prices than what I expected to pay in Egypt. We eventually made it to El-Khalili around 8 PM, and that was probably my favorite part. The area was extremely lively at night, with lights, music, lots of people, cars, and transportation moving through the streets. You definitely have to stay alert while shopping because it can get very busy. The guide was helpful in one way: having him there seemed to make vendors more respectful and less persistent about approaching us. However, when it came to negotiating prices, I felt that he sometimes limited us by telling us that a price was already good and that we should either accept it or leave. Overall, I think whether you need this excursion depends on the type of traveler you are. If you are uncomfortable negotiating, don’t like vendors constantly approaching you, or aren’t sure how to navigate a busy market, I think having a guide can be helpful. If you’re confident bargaining, comfortable saying no, and want the freedom to choose your own stores, I honestly think you could visit El-Khalili independently and have more control over your experience. The guide was friendly and reliable, but I would have preferred more freedom to choose where we wanted to shop rather than being directed toward specific shops. With everything happening around us, it was sometimes difficult to express that we wanted to look elsewhere, and the experience could feel a bit like it was “take it or leave it” when it came to the prices and shops being recommended.

I had a shopping day with Ehab who guided me around town and our driver Shady. Everything was comfortable, and Ehab was very helpful to show me where to buy stuff and had a thorough knowledge of the city's history

A very nice experience with Mina and Rafi, both were very good to us, Mina is a perfect and very kind guide, we like the bazaars, the feluccas, and also the food, 100% recommended.

Mina and Rafa were incredible! They told us a lot about Egypt, they showed us the best place in Khan el-Khalili to buy at a good price. We really felt very comfortable and happy with them :)

The guide was great and provided a lot of information regarding Cairo. He was very thoughtful in letting me decide what I did and didn’t want to do.

Had some confusion with timing of pickup. Originally Boone for 7:30 but was asked about leaving earlier which agreed and offered an earlier time. Booking was changed to accommodate however pickup was late. Experience was fun and all sights were cool, however think price point is way too high.

We had a wonderful experience. John was amazing and hospitable. He was a great guide and made the trip worth every dollar.

It was an experience not to be repeated. The guide assigned to us was extremely agitated, on his first day of work and in an attempt not to disappoint his "very present" boss, he literally forced us to stop at every shop designated by his agency.. in an attempt to make us buy.. naturally without obligation! but if we didn't buy, the visit dragged on with endless times.. furthermore, he drove like a madman on the road and we risked it several times. The result was that the third and final day when we were supposed to visit the market was an absurd disappointment. We couldn't take his interference anymore and we had him leave us alone at the Kana al k market. but after an hour we left because there were very few tourists and we didn't feel safe. He wanted to take us to another market where he would act as a guide but we asked to go back home.. stopping to get something to eat since once you enter the hotel, you don't go out again until the next day .. and here is the best part. He stayed outside waiting without helping us in the slightest with the language until after 40 min I forced him to help us because they weren't serving us and we realized that not understanding we had ordered half the shop.. and they were packing it up.. let's leave it at that..
