👍👍❤️

The Bardo National Museum is one of the most important and famous museums in Tunisia and the Arab world. Located near Tunis, it is renowned for housing one of the largest and richest collections of Roman mosaics in the world, reflecting the many civilizations that have succeeded one another in Tunisia over the centuries. The museum also displays numerous rare archaeological pieces dating from the Punic, Roman, and Islamic periods, as well as statues, jewelry, and historically significant manuscripts. The building stands out for its elegant architecture that blends authenticity with traditional Tunisian art. The Bardo Museum is a must-visit cultural destination for history and art enthusiasts wishing to discover the rich heritage and ancestral civilization of Tunisia.

Bad experience.

This is supposed to be a tour that visits four different locations. We had already been to two of them so I tried to contact the tour provider to let the know we only wanted to go to the Medina and the Museum so we could just spend more time at those two locations. The Medina is interesting but the Bardo museum is a most. The issue with this tour was the tour guide who during the Medina walk was always 20 steps ahead of us. Not sure so he could speed things up or because he was constantly smoking which i have never seen a tour guide do in all my tours around the world. I finally got upset when we were trying to cross a street and he was already talking with the driver. He could tell I was very upset. I had mentioned to him earlier that my mother had trouble walking and that we would spend all day doing only the two locations. After this interaction he slowed downed at the museum but the situation was a little off. He needs to be aware that a tour guide is there for the tourist and not seem to be in a hurry and that smoking in front of clients is not acceptable. Even after all of this we still gave them both a tip. Giving a three score instead of two because our transportation was a large van we loved.

A journey in half

In addition to the famous mosaics, the Museum also collects some truly unusual masterpieces, such as the fully mosaicized proto-Christian baptismal font, magnificent elements of Islamic art and very interesting finds of Jewish figurative representations that can only be admired here (or in Damascus). Tunisia is home to around 1200 archaeological sites, with 40 museums housing its rich heritage. The country also boasts 8 sites classified as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO, testimony to its rich history and culture. Not least the memory of the 22 victims of the 2015 terrorist attack

Wonderful day

Amazing day. Our guide was very accommodating to our preferences and made our visit worry free. We asked to have lunch early at a seafood restaurant with a view and he made it happen for us. Highly recommend.
