Tag på en uforglemmelig rejse gennem de charmerende byer Barcelos, Braga og Guimarães, og få en smag af det nordlige Portugal. Barcelos – en by fyldt med farver og kreativitet. Berømt for sin traditionelle keramik og den legendariske Hvalpe af Barcelos. Braga - kendt som "Portugisisk Rom" for sin utrolige koncentration af religiøse vartegn og arkitektoniske vidundere. Med sin blanding af gamle traditioner og moderne charme er Braga et perfekt rejsemål for dem, der er fascineret af historie, kultur og religion. Guimarães – Vi afslutter din rejse i Guimarães, den historiske by kendt som "fødestedet for Portugal." Med sin velbevarede middelalderlige arkitektur og charmerende gader tilbyder Guimarães et glimt af landets fortid, mens den præsenterer sit fredfyldte moderne liv.

På torsdage har du mulighed for at besøge Portugals største marked. Dette marked finder sted lige i centrum af Barcelos.
Vi vil besøge denne barokke kirke med sine dejlige blå fliser og gyldne udskæringer. Denne kirke er kendt for sin legende om et mørkt trækors.
Et af byens gamle forsvarstårne. På toppen af tårnet har du en smuk udsigt over de barokke haver og markedspladsen. Inde i tårnet er der en interessant kunsthåndværk udstillinger fra lokale kunstnere.
Vi vil besøge hovedkirken, som er den ældste kirke i byen.
Her vil du opdage legenden om tavlen og se det oprindelige kryds fra legenden. Der er også nogle andre interessante artefakter fundet over hele byen.
Nyd den dejlige udsigt over den middelalderlige bro fra slottet af Bragança fra det 15. århundrede.
Vi starter vores byvandring i Braga ind i den gamle bygate.
Vandre rundt i Santa Barbara Gardens og nyd blomsterne i sæsonen.
Du vil passere forbi resten af det 11. århundrede slot del af den gamle bymur.
På det centrale torv i Braga - hvor de 'gamle lokalbefolkningen' samles rundt for at socialisere - vil du se en blanding af interessante arkitekter fra forskellige perioder.
Bygget i det 17. århundrede foran kirken skjuler to høns. Ifølge legenden bør måske bruder finde disse 2 høner til et langt og lykkeligt ægteskab.
Vi vil besøge byens vigtigste kirke. Dele af denne kirke er endnu ældre end Portugal selv. I et af kapellerne i denne katedral finder du tumulerne fra forældrene til den første konge af Portugal.
Sanctuary of Bom Jesus do Monte er berømt for sin omfattende trappe og dens dejlige haver. Her vil du nyde den smukke natur med en fantastisk udsigt over byen Braga.
Nyd stilheden i Bragas mest fredfyldte helligdom. Helligdom er bygget i neoklassisk stil og er den største marianske helligdom i Portugal, anden kun til helligdommen i Fátima.
Den typiske Largo da Oliveira er opkaldt efter et mirakel med et 500 år gammelt oliventræ, der lå på pladsen. Pladsen er omgivet af nogle traditionelle 'Verandahuse' fra det 17. århundrede og 'Nossa Senhora da Oliveira'-kirken. Midt på pladsen er der en veranda kaldet "Padrão do Salado". Verandaen refererer til det vellykkede slag ved Salado i det 14. århundrede. Den charmerende plads i San Tiago er præget af tilstedeværelsen af den gamle rådhusbygning og nogle boligbygninger fra det 17. og 18. århundrede. Frokosttid (ikke inkluderet).
Palace of the Dukes of Bragança blev bygget i det 15. århundrede af D. Afonso. Han var "bastard" søn af kong João I. Vi vil også besøge museet på første sal i paladset med en samling af nationale og internationale antikviteter.
Ifølge legenden blev den første konge i Portugal, D. Afonso Henriques, døbt her. Den formodede dåbskrift, der blev brugt i ceremonien, holdes her.

Vcs canceled the tour, without even warning, bad service, I do not recommend to anyone, I had to arrange the tour with another operator

Da próxima vez que fizer qualquer reserva com qualquer Operador aconselhamos a informar-se corretamente sobre o normal procedimento das mesmas e não fazer comentários infundados sobre uma suposta reserva que nunca aconteceu.
We went on a tour of Barcelos, Braga, and Guimaraes with José and his companion Evangeline (?) and it was a great day. They picked us up right outside our place in central Porto in the morning, and then we headed to the street market in Barcelos (which runs on Thursdays... we didn't buy anything, but it was fun to experience)... Other than the market, Barcelos is a fairly sleepy town, feels pretty "local" and off the beaten path, though it is famous for the legend of the "Rooster of Barcelos" which has become a symbol across all of Portugal. From there, we headed to Braga, which has something like 26 churches -- and we got to take a look at probably a dozen of them over the course of the day, including the impressive Cathedral which was a major seat of Catholic power in the area... in addition to the nearby Bom Jesus, which is beautifully located up a mountain at the end of a long-stretching staircase (although unfortunately they are doing renovations inside the church right now... but the exterior views are the star of the show, anyway.) Finally, we made our way to Guimaraes, the "birthplace" of Portugal since this is where the first king, Alfonso Henriques was born, and where he battled his mother to declare independence from Spain (long story. The guides will tell it to you!) There is a castle here, but we walked past it and spent time touring the more grandiose Dukes manor nearby. The town itself is also pleasant to walk through -- quaint and medieval in its layout, but still a fairly large city. After all of this, we were quite satisfied but, even though the tour was technically done, José was nice enough to show us a few more sights... he had time, so he extended the tour to do a little detour down the coastal region, seeing the beach towns and fisherman villages, such as Vila Nova do Conde, with a historical Portuguese sailing ship and a couple more interesting churches. Oh, I forgot to mention... this is billed as a "small group tour" which would have been fine, but it ended up being a private tour for just the two of us! Even better!
