Antisana er en stratovulkan i det nordlige Ecuador. Det er den fjerde højeste vulkan i landet (5.753 m - 18.874 ft), og ligger 60 kilometer sydøst for Quito. Det er en perfekt vulkansk konus, sammensat af to vulkanske konuser; den ældste blev eroderet af en gammel gletscher. Din guide vil afhente dig kl. 07:00 fra dit hotel i Quito, og derefter vil han køre dig direkte gennem det østlige bjergkæde, indtil landsbyen Pintag, hvor du begynder at køre opad til det økologiske reservat.
På 3.810 meter (12,500 ft) har du store muligheder for at spotte meget interessant fauna, som ørne, karunkulerede caracaras, hvide hale hjorte, ræve, og selvfølgelig den majestætiske andiske Condor, betragtet som den største flyvende fugl i verden og en af de sjældneste arter, der sandsynligvis havde overlevet siden mega beasts (10.000 år ca.)!
Du vil tage en vandretur gennem de andiske skråninger indtil Lake Mica (4.050 m - 13,287 ft), produkt af slutningen af den sidste istid, for at have en bedre udsigt over vulkanen og se smukke vandfugle som andiske vinger, andiske guler, andiske søer, andiske ænder og sorte ansigter ibis, der nysgerrigt lever i Chile og kun i Antisana vulkanen i Ecuador!
Efter din utrolige oplevelse i den bedste Condor's territorium i Ecuador, vil du køre tilbage ned ad bakke vej til Isco canyon, hvor de nisser og klipper, hvor kondorer sover er! My wife and I did this tour to explore a national park and find the condors. This activity was well worth it and allowed us to explore another unqiue environment on your trip to Quito. If you are a bird watcher you will be able to find some truly great lifers.

Spectacular - Antisana is amazing and breathtaking. We had a wonderful and very private experience in the park. Our guide ensured we saw incredible wildlife and explained to us the different types of birds and details about the condors. Our lunch experience was fantastic as well. My family loved it - would highly recommend.

Amazing day trip to a less travelled area in Ecudaor! Luis was an excellent guide, punctual, very knowledgeable about local history, flora and fauna, and a really nice guy. We were fortunate to have good weather, and we saw 25-30 condors from as close as 50 yards feeding on a carcass close to the Laguna! The views of Antisana were spectacular. We pretty much saw all of the expected other bird species and deers and had a great lunch at Tambo Condor. This is an amazing place to watch the Condors coming back in the afternoon to Isco canyon. They have a spotting scope there where you can watch. Also a lot of hummingbirds around that area. Couldn’t have been better. 100% recommend.

What an amazing day trip. Luis was an excellent guide- punctual, very knowledgeable, and a nice guy. We were fortunate to have good weather, and we saw 12-14 condors from as close as 40 yards! Saw pretty much all of the expected other bird species, and had a great lunch at Tambo Condor. Couldn’t have been better.

Booking proccess was simple despite our last minute christmas booking 😅 Our guide Andreas was very knowedable, enthusiastic, and spoke excellent english. We enjoyed that Antisana was off the beaten path and had spectacular views without being overrun by tourists. Highly reccomend.

My second day with the fabulous Myriam, who is a wonderful guide, has amazing English and really knows her stuff. Today the target was condors. Given there are only 130 left in Ecuador, I knew there was a chance i wouldn’t see one, but we saw 10!!! Also several other amazing birds. Another excellent day and Myriam was also aware of the altitude and that I had some issues in Quito, so she kept a close eye on me, asking about symptoms. I felt very safe in her hands. Well worth a visit to this amazingly beautiful place.

absolutely incredible tour. Our guide was Luis. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. It was a nice hike up the hill. We saw four condors and a lot of other animals and birds. Lunch was absolutely amazing. We enjoyed every moment. Thank you very much.

What an incredible day. Luis picked me up at my hotel and off we went up to the nearly empty national park where it felt like we were the only two people in the area. Along the way we were fortunate to spot not one but 10 (!!) condors soaring and playing together. Given that there are approximately 100 birds total in existence, we saw a remarkable 10% of them. It was breathtaking to watch them - especially when they swooped down close to us. We continued up to the park with stops along the way to spot seedeaters, flowerpiercers, caracaras, black-faced ibises, tyrants, variable hawks, and an abundance of deer. Once in the park, we hiked up to about 13000ft and the mountain came out of the clouds for most of our time there providing incredible views. On the way back, we stopped for a lovely typical Ecuadorean lunch at a small local restaurant, where the hummingbirds were out in full force. Luis was an excellent guide with deep knowledge of the area and its inhabitants - and a great sense of humor - and I felt very lucky to have him as my teacher. It could not have been a better day and I highly recommend this excursion.
