Had a very nice trip with the biologists Horst and the captain. We were so lucky to have seen whales. A gray whale stayed next to the boat for about 10 min and then came a whole stretch of bivering water and took off. Fantastic! Later also seen some dolphins. Horst forwarded a nice picture . Thank you for this lovely experience!
The trip was great! The boat is small, which means it sells out quickly, but it also means you are guaranteed a great view of the dolphins and whales. There aren’t dozens of other travelers vying for the same photo. The guide was a marine biologist; she clearly loves her job! The company guarantees a sighting, so if you see nothing on the first trip, you’re welcomed back on another tour. In my case, that wasn’t necessary. Within the first 20 minutes of the trip, a whale surfaced so close that we could nearly touch her. It was AMAZING!
Great explenation. The annimals were treated with respect. And we saw a lot. Atlantic spotted dolphins 2 Blainville’s beaked whales And spermwhales Really impressive. Thanks Camila! Also thanks for the nice pictures and movies you made during our tour!
Tour was wonderful , Camila our guide was fantastic and helped educate everyone in multiple languages. The respect for wildlife and nature is apparent and taking precaution not to disrupt the wild animals and the Chileans they might face we saw multiple types of dolphins as well as two Brude whales! Educational friendly and eco conscious Cannot recommend enough especially as it’s a smaller group you feel there’s a more personal touch Thank you!
We had a wonderful experience with Blue Safari Madeira. From start to finish, the team was professional, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the ocean and marine life. What stood out most was how respectful and responsible the entire experience felt. The crew took great care to observe the whales and dolphins in a thoughtful way, without chasing or disturbing them, while also sharing interesting information about the species, their behavior, and the importance of protecting Madeira’s incredible marine environment. The boat ride itself was beautiful, comfortable, and exciting, with stunning views of Madeira from the water. Seeing dolphins and whales in their natural habitat was truly unforgettable and became one of the highlights of our trip. We highly recommend Blue Safari Madeira to anyone looking for a meaningful, ethical, and memorable whale and dolphin watching experience in Madeira.
Amazing tour the guide is a marine biologist with a passion for all the marine life at Madeira and the sea life is treaded with respect at this company. And the full throttle with the speedboat at the end of the tour is a fun and fast ride.
As promised, this was a responsible while watching tour with a marine biologist who collects photographic evidence of the individual sightings where possible. There’s no guarantees of spotting anything, but they use spots on the cliff which helps to identify any action where possible. Anne and we were treated to a pod of photo of dolphins and three bryde whales. The skipper cut off the engine and we were lucky enough that they came right by us with my husband even seeing a bait ball under the boat with dolphins feeding on it. A great experience all around..
My partner and I booked onto the 9AM tour, which proved to be the best time for seeing the dolphins and whales. We were very lucky to see the bottlenose dolphins near the coast, as well as a Bryde whale, which was fantastic! We then headed out to see the Atlantic dolphins - which came right up to the boat. We turned up a bit late (guidance is to turn up 30 minutes before your alloted time to allow the boat to depart exactly on time) and were the last ones there, so we were a bit panicked when we arrived. But our guide was very kind about it, which allowed us to get on with enjoying the experience. Our tour guide Camilla spoke very passionately about the animals and we had plenty of opportunities to ask questions. We also had the option of buying photos and underwater footage of the animals (captured during our trip) at the end. The boat itself is fairly small (we had about 12 people in our group), which allows for you to hear all the information and speak directly to the tour guide. Everyone in the boat had a great view, and people on the opposite side to the animals were allowed to stand up to see better. We were advised for taller people and those who suffer car sickness to sit near the back of the boat (closer to it's centre of gravity) - though we ended up at the front, which was quite a thrill! We would highly recommend the experience to anyone wanting to see these beautiful creatures and support their conservation. It was well worth the money and an opportunity we will cherish for life!
Horst initially welcomed us very friendly and openly! Afterward, there was a detailed safety briefing and information about the whales/dolphins that could be seen. In between, he always checked to see if everyone was doing well and if anyone had questions. We spotted 2 different species of dolphins and even a whale! Being able to experience these wonderful animals in the wild, with a respectful distance and interaction, was very moving 🫶🏼 Francisco drove the boat very safely - would love to do it again
Seen a lot of dolphins while we followed them for a long time. On the way to the next stop I saw a very large leatherback turtle. And in the end 2 (pot) whales. Thanks to the guide for her passionate explanation and the mate before the kicks while sailing the speedboat
