Vi begynder med en afrejsedag (4.30 til 4.45am afhængigt af tidspunktet for året) fra dit hotel til solopgang uden for Angkor Wat. Indtast det store tempel i mørket fra den lille besøgte østlige side, og kryb ind langs hoary cloistered korridorer forbi den længste strækning af bas-relief udskæringer i verden.
Den sydlige port af Angkor Thom er den bedst bevarede. Den er nærmest udefra via en vandvej, der strækker sig omkring halvtreds meter over en vogngrav. På hver side af kajbanen er rækværk udformet med 54 stenfigurer, der er involveret i udførelsen af en berømt hinduistisk historie: Myten om Ophævelsen af Havet. På venstre side af våben trækker 54 'devas' (vogter) hovedernes slange 'Shesha' på højre side 54 'asuras' (dæmonguder) trækker slangens hale i modsat retning. I denne myte er slangens krop indpakket omkring det centrale bjerg-Mt. Meru-måske svarer her til Bayon tempelet i midten af stedet. I hvert fald fortæller myten, at når Devas trækkede slangen i en retning og guderne skubbede ind i den anden, begyndte havet at krumme og udfælde elementerne. Ved at skifte frem og tilbage blev havet "malket" og dannede jorden og kosmos på ny.
Angkor Thom er det majestætiske sted, der engang tjente som Khmer-imperiens glittende hovedstad. Tag et øjeblik til at overveje dets grandiositet, før du går ind i byen. Ankommer til templet i Bayon, værdsætter sine smukt udformede centrale tårne dækket af mere end 200 enorme ansigter.
Den 350m lange Terrace of Elephants blev brugt som en kæmpe gennemgangsstand for offentlige ceremonier og tjente som en base for kongens store publikumshal. Det har fem outworks strækker sig mod Central Square-tre i midten og en i hver ende. Den midterste del af holdevæggen er dekoreret med livstørrelsesgaruda og løver; I begge retninger er de to dele af den berømte parade af elefanter komplet med deres Khmer mahouts.

Engang hjem til 2.740 munke ser Ta Prohm i dag meget ud som det gjorde i begyndelsen af 1850'erne, da franskopdageren Henri Mouhot 'genopdagede' dette smuldrende sted. We had an absolutely wonderful experience with Sopheap Rath (our tour guide) and Sambath (our driver) during our Cambodia trip. We had a guided tour by Sam and his driver Da! It was just amazing, he showed us the best spots instead of all the tourist spots! It was impressive how much knowlegde Sam had on both the temples as well as the Khmer history. I would recommend him for sure! A 10/10 experience. And he was a great cameraman as well!!

Sok was an exceptional tour guide for our Angkor Wat Sunrise Tour. He is very knowledgeable on all the temples and sites we visited and of Cambodian history generally. This tour was awwsome! Watching the sunrise at Angkor Wat was absolutely breathtaking, but what really made the day unforgettable was our amazing guide, Sam, and our driver, Mr. Ha. Sam was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate. As we walked through the temples, he shared fascinating stories and historical details that brought each place to life. He also planned the route perfectly, making sure we avoided unnecessary walking in the heat while still seeing all the highlights. We learned so much and enjoyed every moment. Mr. Ha was equally fantastic. He was always there waiting for us at each temple exit with cold water and refreshing towels, which made such a difference during the day. It is a must do experience!

Sam was a great tour guide who took us to a great spot to watch the sunset overlooking Angkor Wat. Seeing the different temples of Angkor Wat, Bayon Temple, and Ta Prohm was amazing. Sam had a lot of details to share and made it interesting with his story telling. He even added some details about the culture of Cambodia which was nice to learn. He's also great taking photos and knows all the good spots. I highlight recommend this tour! To top it off, our driver Ha was amazing and so attentive. Every time we got on the bus he had a cold towel and water ready for us.
