Arkitekturen og layoutet af de på hinanden følgende hovedstæder vidner om et højt niveau af social orden og rangordning inden for Khmer-imperiet. Angkor er derfor et vigtigt sted, der eksemplificerer kulturelle, religiøse og symbolske værdier, samt rummer høj arkitektonisk, arkæologisk og kunstnerisk betydning.
Angkor Thom, bogstaveligt talt: "Great City", indeholder flere af de must-see templer og gamle steder, herunder Bayon Temple, Terrace of the Elephants, Terrace of the Spedalske King, Baphoun Temple og mange flere. Det er et must-besøg på en tur til Siem Reap og dets gamle templer.
Bayons mest karakteristiske træk er mængden af fredfyldte og smilende stenansigter fra Buddha - sandsynligvis modelleret efter kong Jayavarman VII's ansigt - på hver side de mange tårne, der rager ud fra den øverste terrasse og klynger sig omkring dens centrale top.
Baphuon af Udayadityavarman II (regerede 1050-66); og det buddhistiske tempel Bayon, som var det centrale tempel bygget af Jayavarman VII, da han gav byen, som senere blev kendt som Angkor Thom, eller "Store By", dens mere eller mindre endelige form.
Ta Nei-templet er et meget lille og sjældent besøgt tempel. Manglen på andre besøgende er en af mange grunde til, at du bør besøge dette fantastiske tempel.
Bygget fra 1186 og oprindeligt kendt som Rajavihara (Kongens Kloster), Ta Prohm var et buddhistisk tempel dedikeret til moderen til Jayavarman VII. Det er et af de få templer i Angkor-regionen, hvor en inskription giver information om templets pårørende og indbyggere.
Banteay Kdei, et massivt buddhistisk kloster fra den sidste del af det 12. århundrede, er omgivet af fire koncentriske mure. Hver af dens fire indgange er dekoreret med garudaer, som holder et af Jayavarman VIIs yndlingstemaer højt: Avalokiteshvaras fire ansigter.
Prasat Kravan-templet er et hinduistisk tempel fra det 10. århundrede dedikeret til VIshnu. Det er et relativt lille tempel sammenlignet med andre templer i parken.

Good trip, but could be better described that the guide was not with into the temple, so had to hire a new guide inside. Would have been cheaper to rent tuktuk from the hotel

Soppal and Titiya were great guys and took us where we wanted to go. The temples close at 6pm beware of that! But after 5:40 is free Make sure you cover knees and shoulders or you can’t go in

Well done, I've been to Ankhor Wat. Cross that off the once in a lifetime experience.... Great for those who love a really, really long walk. Altbough once you've seen a temple you have seen them all. Our driver sohpal was really great though, lovely guy, proffesional and accomodating.

Great tuktuk transportation through Angkor Wat. Sophal was very well prepared with towels and lots of water. He recommended a tour guide for $60 but I opted to do my own self paced tour with an audio guide and had an amazing time. Definitely need to book transportation between temples as it is quite a walk between them. Highly recommend this one as it was very accommodating, didn’t rush me and let me take it at my own pace which I really appreciated.
