Had such an amazing experience in Amritsar and had a wonderful guide: Narinder. We did several tours: one tour to the border ceremony and two tours to the Golden Temple (one in the evening and one in the morning). All were absolute must do’s! The border ceremony is such a once in a lifetime event. You can see the rivalry between India and Pakistan. We had great spots in the stadium so we could watch the ceremony really well. Loved the vibe in the stadium. Narinder told a lot about the history of India and Pakistan and the partition. Really interesting! The tour to the Golden Temple was also one not to forget. The tour was captivating. We also got a look in the biggest open kitchen of the world which is in the temple itself. I would recommend to visit the Temple both in the evening and in the morning as it has a quite different atmosphere. I took many great photos of the border ceremony and the Golden Temple. I really recommend Narinder as a tour guide. After Amritsar we had some more stops in India and Narinder helped us out by making a brilliant travel plan.
## Review: An Unforgettable Spiritual and Cultural Journey **Rating: ★★★★★** We recently completed a 5-day tour with **Yours Dream Holidays**, and it was an incredible experience that perfectly balanced heritage, spirituality, and local culture. The coordination between the Punjab and Uttarakhand legs of the trip was seamless. ### Amritsar, Punjab: Heritage & Heart (2 Days) Our journey began in Amritsar with our guide, **Narinder**, and driver, **Gill Singh**. * **Spirituality & History:** We started with a meaningful walking tour of the **Golden Temple**, visiting the world’s largest community kitchen and the Akal Takht. This was followed by visits to the moving **Jallianwala Bagh** and the **Partition Museum**. We even returned in the evening to see the temple beautifully illuminated at night. * **Authentic Village Life:** The second day was a highlight, featuring an 80-year-old home tour, a tractor ride through green fields, and a traditional turban-tying experience. We enjoyed a delicious homemade traditional lunch before heading to the **Wagha Border** for the evening ceremony. ### Uttarakhand: Peaks & Spiritual Ghats (3 Days) We then transitioned to Uttarakhand, where we were looked after by our guide, **Rashi**, and driver, **Darwin Rawat**. * **Mussoorie Highlights:** We explored the historic Mall Road, caught the famous "Winter Line" sunset, and took a cable car to **Gun Hill** for 360-degree Himalayan views. We also visited the colorful Company Garden and the scenic Kempty Falls. * **Dehradun & Rishikesh:** We explored the unique river canyon at **Robber’s Cave** before heading to Rishikesh. A major highlight in Rishikesh was visiting the graffiti-clad **Beatles Ashram**. We spent time exploring the **Library of Beatles history**, the serene **prayer hall**, and the several unique **cone-shaped yoga practice kutirs** scattered throughout the site. We concluded the day by witnessing the spiritual **Ganga Aarti at Triveni Ghat**. * **Haridwar:** Our tour wrapped up with a visit to the serene **Har Ki Pauri** before our final departure. **Highlights:** * **Seamless Logistics:** Excellent airport transfers and comfortable travel in an Innova Crysta throughout the tour. * **Expert Local Knowledge:** Both Narinder and Rashi provided deep insights that made the sightseeing much more impactful. * **Safety & Comfort:** Our drivers, Gill Singh and Darwin Rawat, were professional and navigated the busy city streets and winding mountain roads with ease. This trip was a perfect mix of religious pilgrimage and scenic getaway. Highly recommend Yours Dream Holidays for anyone looking for a well-organized tour of North India!
It was a full on day with lots of exciting sightseeing. Our guide was very very knowledgeable, friendly, laid-back and his English was excellent. He also provided a lot of background information about Indian culture, way of living, history and the different religions. He didn`t try to talk us into buying souvenirs nor did he go with us into tourist shops. We got a special "backstage" tour into the worlds largest free community kitchen (Langar) at the Golden Temple which was a particular highlight to us. We enjoyed the day with thousands of impressions, but also had appropriate breaks throughout the day.
I had a one day tour of Amritsar with Narinder and it was excellent. I only made the booking at about 8 PM the night before I wanted to go, and he contacted me that same night to give me the details for the next morning. He gave me a thorough tour of the golden temple and we had langar (community meal) with a lot of behind-the-scenes tours of how things are made and done there. Practically no lines at all to wait in as he had the system down. He gives extremely robust historical background on everything that we see and knows an astonishing amount of information off the top of his head, including dates, numbers, and the like. We then visited Durgah temple, which was a quick but worthwhile experience. I elected not to do the border ceremony given turmoil in the region, but that would also have been included for the price. Narinder was extremely kind and patient. He answered all of my mini historical and cultural questions and he also took all of the photographs that I wanted and retook them until they were good. He also helped me shop and made sure I got good deals on souvenirs, turban, and tailored clothes. No complaints at all. It was an excellent day in a wonderful place to see. Pick Narinder if you are a history nerd or just want a great guide with perfect English to make the most out of your time in Amritsar. When I come back, and I will, I will book him again for his other tour!
Excellent! We chose Narinder because of the wonderful reviews. Those reviews were accurate. His English is strong and he is a good communicator. He told us where to sit at the border for the best views. At the Golden Temple he gave us instructions to save us from social faux pas and causing offense. He tailored the tour to our interests. We wanted authentic and we got it. He is both friendly and discreet. Recommend without hesitation.
Fantastic trip. We found the entire tour really enjoyable, at times exciting and overall very inciteful. Excellent, varied content. Narindar was a fabulous guide, keeping us on time, on track and always entertained. He was an excellent communicator and always on time. We particularly enjoyed the visit to the workings of the kitchen at the Golden Temple, and loved the ceremony at the Attari-Wagah border post - great fun and quite an experience! We would totally recommend this tour to others.
It was a wonderful day spent being guided by the excellent Narinder Uppal who was very organised, knowledgeable and good company. The experience was the good blend of spiritualism, history, and ceremony. Not only is the Golden Temple beautiful but its also a testament to the good in humanity with its 10,000 volunteers and its provision of free food to all visitors. The visit to Jallianwala Bagh was thought provoking on how the hundreds of locals enjoying a spring festival would have tried to escape being indiscriminately being shot by the British rulers. The Partition Museum brought to life the suffering of the displaced Hindus and Muslims brought about by the ill-prepared partition of India by the British but it also illustrated the resilience of humanity with stories of how some of the displaced flourished. After a shopping and dining interlude the day ended at the uplifting and vibrant flag lowering border ceremony - just a shame that the gate opening at the end with a handshake between a solider from India and Pakistan has stopped after the brief war last year.
It was a very well organised trip of 2 days.
This trip was super friendly -our guide, Narinder was superb - his knowledge is second to none and he is really attentive true gentleman. He listens and understands his clients needs - you can also rely on the professionalism and skill of his drivers ! Boy, they need skill here but they are sure to keep you safe All in all, friendly and obliging - will go the extra mile to help your tour and your needs - please do not question scrolling on to book with anyone else !!!
