Alexander den store oplevelse: Privat tur til Vergina og Pella

Leisurely way to see the two key towns and dive into history. We learned so much. Even on a hot day the mix of outdoors and cool museums and a AC van made it very enjoyable. Museums had good facilities of restrooms and cafes. We had a great driver and guide.

As an older British couple taking a holiday on the Olympus Riviera near Paralia and preferring not to drive on holiday, we looked for company that would arrange private tours to the historical sights in Central Macedonia tailored to our requirements. We contacted Ioannis and Georgia of igoHellas.com from the UK before we travelled and arranged two tours, one to the archeological site of Dion,Mt Olympus and Platamos Castle, the other to Vergina and Pella to see the royal tombs and museum.. The prebooking service was easy and we liked that we paid just a small deposit and there was a cancellation policy. We could not have wished for better service once we arrived in Greece. Our driver Adonis was always on time, was wholly reliable and was very friendly telling us about his days as a bouzouki player! Our car was beautifully clean and superb air conditioning with plenty of water. We loved having lots of time to explore all the sites properly on our own rather than being herded around in a coach on a group tour. We had a lovely two days exploring the historical sites and beautiful countryside of Macedonia - this part of Greece is so green and lush with lots of fruit trees as well as cotton and rice.We also enjoyed tasting lovely wines produced at the Maratidini winery in the Naoussa region with the two ladies, second generation in charge. We really recommend this company and Adonis our driver. At short notice, they also arranged for Adonis to take us to Thessaloniki so we could spend the day there sightseeing.Excellent value for money

Dimitrios Bekas, our guide, was terrific. Picked us up at our Thessaloniki hotel and took us straight to the Pella Museum and the Pella ruins. Later we went to the Royal Tombs of Vergina, the palace ruins and the new Aigai Museum. All the sites were incredible. Dimitrios was very knowledgeable when it came to Macedonian history and Greek cuisine. He gifted us a beautiful book, The Northern Table, and an Aigai sunburst magnet.

We enjoyed our visit to Pella and Vergina. Our driver, Gina, and tour guide, Athina, were very friendly and accommodating! We learned about Alexander the Great and his family. We saw the tombs and explored museums. It was a fun trip!

A wonderful trip! Friendly and knowledgeable guides, a comfortable car and all the timings worked well. Pella and Vergina are must sees. The new museums are excellent and thr Royal tombs are, of course, jaw dropping. Highly recommended.

Fantastic way to see Thessaloniki! We were picked up right as we left the cruise ship, and everything was seamless from the start. Since the sites are spread out, this was absolutely the best way to explore the region. A big thank you to Adonis for making the experience so enjoyable. My wife and two children (12 and 15 yrs old) had an amazing full-day tour of Pella and Vergina with a personal guide, Ioannis, who earned a PhD in archeology and is former president of the licensed guide association. Ioannis was a wealth of knowledge starting from the moment we stepped into our van with a history of Thessaloniki all the way through our last stop to see the amphitheater where Philip II was assassinated. History buffs and interested tourists alike will love this tour and our guide/driver team did an excellent job making us feel comfortable, informed, and captivated. The guides are a great value, putting in a solid 5+ hrs of nearly non-stop historical narrative. You won’t be disappointed!
