Great experience! One of our friends got sick the night before the hike and they were very thoughtful and rescheduled the hike for him. The guide we had, Alejandro, was a great guide to have and provided a great experience. For someone who want a more private experience instead of the big tours with 30+ people (we had a group of 5 including the guide), this is the best! They care about sustainable tourism.
Excellent guide, he gave us tips on how to position our posture and stick grip. The cabins have a more privileged view than other agencies. It includes hot food. Friendly service.
Very cool experience, but very hard to hike. But I’m 60 years old and I made it, slowly. Andres and Rolo were the best! They were both patient and supportive and never rushed me to hike faster. The views were amazing and Fuego erupted every 5-15 minutes all night. It was cold and windy at the top so follow all the layering instructions. The cabins were cold but got you out of the wind. With layers of clothing, I slept well.
Everything was perfect and Alex was the best guide!
1000/10 stars! Everything was seamless and amazing from the pre briefing to the ride home. Angie was our guide and was AMAZING! She not only was a great time but she was very attentive to everyone in our group. The dinner Andre made us was so cozy and was the perfect dish after a long day. The whole trip from start to finish exceeded our expectations- and we made life long friends along the way. Highly recommend booking with Trek and if you get Angie your trip will be even better!
Our tour with Trek Guatemala was incredible. We got to see the eruptions of Volcán de Fuego, which were magnificent. We chose the tour with the 4x4 ride, so we only had to hike for about an hour. You also have the option to hike closer to the volcano, but we decided to stay at the base camp, which still had amazing views. After enjoying the views of Fuego, there is another hike to watch the sunrise. Diego was our tour guide, and he was incredible, friendly, attentive, and very knowledgeable about volcanoes and the history of Guatemala. We would love to go back because it was such an unforgettable experience. They also provide meals, which were very good. Depending on your package, you can choose between a private or shared cabin. The beds were comfortable, and they provide sleeping bags that keep you very warm. Make sure to bring layers because it gets very cold at night when you are enjoying the views. We highly recommend Trek Guatemala if you want to experience the amazing volcano views in Guatemala.
Even before booking, sharing natural concerns, through the whole process of travel and my specific needs , the level of communication was so vital in making this experience so ideal. Even after we made it home I was checked up on with gratitude and kindness. , I cannot recommend enough using this outfit for an adventure . They are so well organized in proactive I really felt and was part of.The team. I am completely happy with our guide. Her professionalism, knowledge, ability to adapt to schedules, great attitude, relaxed down to earth demeanor . I was just so thoroughly impressed. If there’s an ability to request, I highly recommend Angie. More as a coordinator? There is no one better. I did the double summit adventure. I was fed well I was pushed out out of my comfort zone ( which is what I wanted to get out of this) but at the same time, it was very safe. I will be coming back and going on another adventure with this outfit guaranteed.
Where do I begin...😂 I'm giving it two stars just because of the poor sales person that was very patient. I had originally spent A LOT of money to go with Trek Guatemala. It had all the tick boxes for me as a English speaking solo female traveler. Own tent, optional Fuego hike, English guides, private trial and small group. It also has good reviews online. It was a once in a lifetime experience and one of the main things to do so I was willing to pay the money. I am also in my late 30s so didn't want to be sharing with 4-10 other people at night (sorry 😂) However I could not recommend them at all. Maybe they are better when there are no problems or issues! This means I would not book with them at all in the rainy season...communication was bad. I booked with them a while ago and over the last couple of weeks their campsite was damaged by heavy rain. They left it to the week before (I think they knew about it earlier) to tell me the news the that I would now be in their new 'cozy cabins'. The amount of people on the tour had doubled but I would still have my own cabin. However the outside viewing area was tiny - 8 spaces for out of potentially 16-20 people. Then two days before the booking they then tell me I no longer have my own private cabin due to logistic issues and that they would give me a discount or I can cancel. This gave me such a sort amount of time to find someone else and everyone I contacted was booked up especially if you want your own tent. The day before the day I was supposed to be doing it I was messaging everyone and it was super stressful (thanks Trek Guatemala). They did offer me to be transferred to Old Town Outfitters on the last day but they didn't offer the Fuego trek which for me was a big drawback. They also might have up to 25 people on the tour. I ended up going with a small local company that was over half the price. And I had my own cabin looking out over the volcano.
We had the best experience with Trek! Our guides Rodrigo & Andres were so fun, accommodating, motivating, and passionate. At first we weren't sure about Trek because of the price compared to the other tour options, but in the end we were so happy with our decision because of the small group size, private trail to base camp, quality of food and cabins, and awesome guides. Cannot recommend this experience enough - it's mentally and physically demanding but well worth it and will stick with us for life. Thanks Trek and thank you Rodrigo & Andres!!!
Great hike for an amazing chance to see neighboring Fuego volcano erupt. Trek had encouraging guides, delicious food and some of the nicest accommodations at base camp.
