Captain Rick is a fantastic tour guide. We saw at least a dozen whales surface and dive multiple times close enough to the boat to see the whole whale.

This was the best experience ever!!! We saw more than 20 whales and Rick took us to just the right place where we saw a mama bear and 2 cubs. He is very, very knowledgeable and we all learned a lot from him. I will recommend him to all my clients and friends going to Sitka!

Rick is the Bomb. Great host, very friendly, and got us up and personal with the Alaskan wildlife. Highly recommend this to couples or small families. Really feels like a private VIP tour.

Great tour super guide lots of whales

I cannot recommend Rick enough! From the information given over the phone to the directions to the pick up point to the information given during the tour .....and just the tour itself.....everything was perfect! Rick is a super nice guy with a very comfortable, spotless boat and he took us on the BEST tour! We saw too many whales to count....it was incredible! Having grown up in Sitka, he knew exactly where to take us where we wouldn't be surrounded by 100 other boats, but put us right in the middle of so many whales! We saw sea lions before even leaving the harbor, whales, puffins, bald eagles, cormorants, a volcano, a gorgeous island, starfish, eagle nests, salmon jumping and a momma bear feeding salmon to her 3 baby cubs. His knowledge of the area, the animals, their feeding patterns, the fishing boats and fishing processes was so educational. Plus, the boat was warm when it got chilly and he was even thoughtful enough to provide snacks and waters for our trip. You won't go wrong choosing this tour. We can't thank him enough for a truly an incredible day! Thanks again for taking us on such a great trip Rick! We can't wait to come back and do it again! ~Alicia

UNBELIEVEABLE!!!!! Our experience was unlike anything we ever expected. Rick was an amazing tour guide. We saw a brown momma bear with 3 small(ish) cubs. She grabbed a salmon right out of the water (3 times) and feed herself and cubs. We also saw sea otters and he told us about the history behind the relationship between them and Alaska/Russia. We also saw about 13-15 whales too! The boat ride was smooth and enjoyable. He told us his own personal history with boating/fishing and how he came to do his job. We had a great time and would do it all over again in a heart beat!

I feel like we won the lottery with selecting Rick for our whale watching tour. His knowledge of the area combined with hands on experience doing different jobs on the water over the years make for a wonderful trip full of local, interesting, and informative conversation. As a guide Rick was committed to making our time in Sitka as great as it could be. While we paid for a whale watching tour, based on the timing of our trip (during the salmon run), he went out of his way to offer to also show us bears, sea otters, and to explain the salmon fishing going on around us. Additionally, we saw lots of whales! While wildlife viewing can never be guaranteed, it certainly helps your chances to have a knowledgeable guide like Rick. Boat was very comfortable and he was terrific with our 8 & 10 year old on the trip. Highly recommend!
