Dette er det højeste bjerg i Afrika. Det er snedækket og verdens højeste fritstående vulkantoppe. Bjerget består af henholdsvis to sovende vulkaner (Kibo 5.895m a.m.s.l og Mawenzi 5.149m a.m.s.l) og en uddød vulkan (Shira 3.962m a.m.s.l). Oprindelsen af ordet er ikke velkendt, men det siges at være en kombination af det swahiliske ord Kilima, der betyder "bjerg" og Kichagga-ordet Njaro, løst oversat som "hvidhed", der giver navnet "Hvidt bjerg". Dens størrelse er 1.712 km2 og blev erklæret som en nationalpark i 1973, officielt åbnet for turisme i 1977, Kilimanajaro-bjerget blev udpeget som verdensarvssted af UNESCO i 1987 og Afrikas naturlige vidunder i 2013. Klatring til toppen, som er langt oppe ind i himlen er det en livstidsoplevelse, som ingen kan glemme. A truly incredible experience. We came for the mountain, but the 10/10 service from our guides (Moses and John Bosco) their team of porters, and the Keys Hotel elevated our experience from good to spectacular.

The staff were very welcoming , made us feel safe, especially Swai and Trizer. Frank took us on a waterfall hike which was super fun.

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro has been a bucket list of mine for a long time, and thanks to the amazing people at Keys Tours & the Keys Hotel they made that dream a reality. I would highly recommend using them for anyone who is interested in experiencing the beautiful country that is Tanzania. Whether you too want to climb Mount Kilimanjaro or perhaps participate in a safari, or just see the country in general, you can’t go wrong using keys Tours. They sincerely care about the guest experience & want to ensure that each client has a wonderful vacation. My climbing guide (Collins) was extremely courteous & also very knowledgeable regarding the mountain, its history, & the surrounding vegetation & wildlife. The rest of the team was equally superb & the food was amazing. I think I may be the only person who actually gained weight climbing the mountain :) A few of my close friends also want to climb Kilimanjaro, and I am going to give them all my details so they too can stay at Keys Hotel & use Keys Tours & have a once in a lifetime experience.
