WOW!!! I cannot say enough about how incredible this trip was! Made even better by our guide, Ahmed. He is so attentive, patient, kind and funny! He has a depth of knowledge and a true passion for sharing and ensuring everyone gets to experience this amazing culture and nature. My only sadness is I didn’t have more time :) Will be booking with Ahmed again for sure!!

Ahmed and his team were amazing. He accommodated all our wants and needs throughout a very busy schedule. Despite our having a very difficult person in our group (who commanded constant attention), he was able to keep her appeased while still giving the rest of the group an authentic and beautiful Moroccan experience. I highly recommend this company and will definitely be working with him in the future.

Six days. Hundreds of miles. One unforgettable guide. My partner and I traveled with Ahmed of Guided Desert Morocco from Fez to Marrakesh, crossing mountains, deserts, villages, cities, and landscapes so different from one another that it sometimes felt like we were traveling through several countries instead of one. What made the trip special wasn't just what we saw. It was Ahmed. He is deeply proud of both his Berber heritage and Morocco itself, and that pride is contagious. Again and again, as we rounded a bend to a spectacular panorama, passed a shepherd moving sheep across the road, drove through a vast rocky desert, or climbed a copper-colored dune to see endless waves of sand stretching to the horizon, Ahmed would break into a smile and exclaim, "Afrika!" That simple word captured his delight in sharing his country with visitors. We came to look forward to it. Ahmed answered our endless questions about history, geography, religion, culture, food, village life, and daily customs. Nothing ever felt rehearsed. Conversations flowed naturally. (He speaks six languages fluently.) Whether we were discussing Berber traditions over endless cups of mint tea—what he and the locals call "Berber whiskey"—driving through the Atlas Mountains, or simply watching the landscape roll past the van window, Ahmed always had a story, an insight, or a smile to share. He knew exactly how to balance the iconic experiences visitors hope for with the authentic experiences they never knew to ask for. He arranged a cooking class with Berber women, camel rides into the Sahara, and a jeep excursion through the dunes. But he also took us to a real rural souk, far from the tourist trail, where local families were buying sheep for the upcoming Feast of Abraham and donkey carts filled the parking area outside. He stopped at a high pass on a winding road to introduce us to his friend the knifemaker and to another who grows the crocuses that produce saffron. Ahmed never treated Morocco as a collection of tourist sites. He told us from the beginning that he would show us the REAL Morocco—if we wanted. He shared it as a living place filled with real people and traditions. At one point he told us, "Berbers are very open people." Women in full burkas shop alongside others in tee shirts and jeans. Some women wear hijabs, some do not. Children are both noisy and shy, and cats are everywhere. Over the course of six days, we discovered exactly what he meant as he introduced us to friends and, in one tiny village, members of his own family. By the end of the journey, we had seen extraordinary places. More importantly, we felt we had gained a deeper understanding of Morocco and the people who call it home. Morocco is a rich, multi-layered country—a weave of ancient and modern, traditional and progressive, familiar and utterly unexpected. If you are considering a trip with Guided Desert Morocco, I recommend Ahmed without hesitation. He is a wonderful ambassador for his culture and his country. We went on the 4 day tour from Fès to Marrakech going through the desert, the valleys and the High Atlas. Ahmed adapted the tour perfectly to our little group making stops as needed and choosing activities we liked. The accommodations and food choices were great and Ahmed was patient with our many questions as we explored Morocco for the first time. It was a great experience!

We had an amazing time on our 4 day trip in the desert. Ahmed was flexible to adjust the journey to our liking and Mohamed, our guide, was a true gentleman going out of his way to show us out of the way places, share his culture and respong to our endless questions. He even invited us for a meal in his home as we drove through his village. We highly recommend Ahmed for a personalized experience

Great tour. Ahmed struck the perfect balance—engaged when it mattered, but also giving you space to enjoy things on your own. He’s an excellent driver and consistently conscientious, respectful, and responsive, always open to questions and flexible with stops. He even helped coordinate and get us to our next lodging at the end, which we really appreciated. The itinerary was thoughtfully put together, with a nice mix of experiences; lodging and food stops were solid throughout. The desert camp was a highlight, and the camel ride far exceeded expectations—authentic and not at all hokey. I felt safe and well taken care of the entire time. I’ve traveled extensively without a guide, and this trip made me appreciate how much easier the experience can be with the right one. One thing to know going in: covering this route means full days and a fair amount of time in the car between stops. The itinerary makes good use of that time, but if you prefer a slower pace or more time to enjoy each stop (especially the desert camp and hotels), you might consider adding an extra night.

The tour is a great way to see diverse landscapes in this part of Morocco. You leave the crowded city and head up into the high Atlas Mountains with amazing views and then drive through villages and a few small cities through the low Atlas Mountains and eventually you end up in the Sahara. The camel ride in the desert at sunset and the tented camp are great experiences. The rest of the stops are also amazing. The hotels were all great and the best part is that the guide Ahmed takes care of everything and always makes sure that you are doing what you want to do. He doesn’t just dump you off at a site you don’t really want to see. He tells you what there is to see and lets you decide if you want to stop and how long you want to stay. He is flexible and he seems to know someone in every area which allows for a chance to see things or visit sites that are not listed in the tour description. We went to a home/cooperative to see how rugs are made and given the option to buy one but were not pressured at all to make a purchase. Ahmed took care of us at every stop and made everything easy. He checked in with us at every stay to make sure things met our needs and expectations. He is a great guide and a good person. I wish every guide was as good as him. He is easy going and works hard to make sure everything is perfect. I feel very fortunate to have chosen him for our tour. We had the opportunity to talk to other tourists at the desert camp and their guides had not shared a lot of the things Ahmed had shared with us. Ahmed is a Berber and has so much knowledge of the area and he shares it with his guests. It really adds to the experience.

This 4-day private desert tour from Marrakech was one of the best travel experiences I've had. Ahmed was not just a guide — he was a true host, making every moment feel personal and genuine. From the ancient Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou to the dramatic Todra Gorge and the vast Sahara dunes of Merzouga, the journey was perfectly paced. What surprised me most was the warmth and openness of the Berber people we met along the way — their hospitality felt completely authentic, not touristic. The luxury desert camp was beyond expectations. If you are looking for a well-organized, personal and culturally rich Moroccan adventure — Ahmed is your man. Highly recommended!
