Tayrona Park is gorgeous, rich with plants, boulder formations, seascapes, and some monkeys. Sadly, we saw only a heron, though that heron was beautiful. Somewhere, we read that a "moderate level of fitness" would be needed for the hike. My friend and I both consider ourselves to be moderately fit, but I am nearly 70 and she just turned 80. We found it very challenging - beautiful and rewarding - but there is a reason there is a table selling an Arnica potion "por dolor" at the end of the hike! The Minca tour the next day was much less demanding. The hard work was accomplished by the driver - who must have nerves of steel. That was a rugged road! We got to ride along, enjoying the dramatic scenery around us. The tour itself was fun and interesting - and I am happy to know where chocolate comes from and how it goes from that cacao plant to the many forms we enjoy. Same with coffee - it was really interesting to see the different steps.
It sounds like you had an incredible adventure! Tayrona Park truly is a stunning place, and while the hike can be quite demanding, it’s great to hear that you found it rewarding despite the challenge. That Arnica potion stand at the end says it all! 😅 Minca certainly offers a different kind of adventure, and those rugged roads are no joke! Kudos to your driver for navigating them like a pro. The coffee and chocolate experiences there are always fascinating—it’s amazing to see the journey from plant to cup (or bar)! Thanks for sharing your experience! Would love to hear more about your favorite moments.
